I've been using my ipod for a while now with no problems with the sync, and maybe this is a nit picking, but I can't get the sync to use a command - "Play all", which is the equivalent of shuffle within the ipod.

Instead, Sync says, "Play Album the Wall" or "Play Hole"

It happens to be the command that I use the most.


I tried to put the ipod on shuffle, and then plug it in, but it doesn't go into the shuffle mode that I want.

Meanwhile, however, the sync picks up all of my other commands pretty accurately.

Is there any way to reset/reboot the sync system?

Do you have basic stereo with sync or nav radio? I have the nav and I have a master reset to reset to oem settings. I had to have my sync module replaced becaus it went bad wouldnt recognize phone or ipod

 

From your description of the issue, it sounds to me like it's just misunderstanding you. Happens a lot to me with my Texas aaaaacceeeunt. Even after going through the whole course on there, where it learns (supposedly) my voice. For example, sometimes I'll say "Call Donna at work" and it'll say "Calling Bubba at work". So, I have to exit and enunciate a little better...then it'll work. But, we're a little lazy with our talk down here, and draaaaaawwwwwlllll just a little. And, they didn't program these computers to understand it...but overall, I think it does a pretty good job. All except for one member of my family...it never understands him.

 

just remove or rename the song "Hole" and the album "The Wall" in iTunes. Then Sync can't make it a candidate for a speech command. The bonus to all of this is that you won't ever again have to listen to a song about a hole.

 

I did the reset, but that didn't help. Very weird in that it used to work fine, but at some point, it stopped. I'll remove Hole and Pink Floyd and see if it works.

Overall, by the way, I think the Sync is awesome - just this one feature is bothering me.
