How much did you pay?
I've been looking at Platinum series F150s and am wondering what the average price they are going for. The one I've been looking at is stickered at 49K. What did you pay for yours?
Any input so that I can make an informed purchase is greatly appreciated! Thanks

$8 to $10k off is average, depends on the market/area.
I actually only got $6900 off, but they gave me $16.3k for my trade in truck when KBB said the trade in value was only $13.3k. So the extra $3k is almost like I got $10k off sticker then. It's all a numbers game anyways when a trade-in is involved. This was back in late February.

Invoice minus rebates is probably about the best you are going to do. My platinum(2wd) sticker'd for around 42k(maybe closer to 43k) and x-plan(a bit below invoice) was 38xxx and then 4k in rebates brought me to 34xxx. So I got about 8k, I think you should be able to do 10k on a truck stickering at 49k.
I got a little of $10K off sticker and a smokin' deal on my trade considering it had been in an accident with over $8K in damage... the $10K off was basically invoice less the available incentives...
My best deals have always been through the internet sales managers... the guys on the floor are out there to rip off the uninformed. No haggling with my guy, he makes his own deals... simple... invoice (he still gets the dealer holdback) less rebates and whatever financing is available or my own. Short and sweet... none of the going to the sales manager for approval BS...

This is all very helpful...
I'm trying to decide if I want the Lariat, King Ranch or Platinum. There are things I like about each trim level, and then things I don't like about the other.
Such as... I don't think I'm really a fan of the new leather in the King Ranches. I wish it was still Castano. If it was, I would be buying that, no question.
In the Platinum, I love the interior, but am not as crazy about the exterior design. Not that fond of the chrome piece that goes along the bottom. Also, prefer 2-tone paint.
With the Lariat, it's just not quite as luxurious inside. I would rather have the King Ranch or Platinum leather, but that's the only thing holding me back from it.
So, I can't decide which way to go. I was very curious how much everyone paid for their trucks as well, to even help me a little more in my decision.

The 09 KR has the "new" leather which is much better than the Castano. I had an 06 KR and it was a beast to keep up.
Ya gotta go with the KR.....

I'm just not sure if I like the color of the new King Ranch seats. They seem too orange/redish for me. The pre-09's were awesome. I loved them. I realize they were a little tougher to keep looking good, but it would have been worth it to me.
I like everything about the platinum. The rear stainless tailgate piece is growing on me, however the 3m foam tape holding it on is starting to come off and when I have the dealer fix it(they are removing and re-doing the whole thing) I am gonna see how I like it with it off. If there are locating holes drilled in the tailgate underneath it that will make the decision pretty easy though.
I love the interior(I have the brown with the black accents), I love the power folding running boards, I love the stainless grill and interior moldings, leather covered everything except the top of the dash, SYNC, Sony stereo(this is a must buy option, well worth 395 bucks), extra sound deadening, power fold mirrors, etc...
There is one thing I wish I had gotten and two that I kinda do
-36 gallon fuel tank-really wish I had it and its a no cost option
-NAV-after seeing it in action I really like it, however I still dont know if its worth the 2500 extra(or what ever it is)
-max trailer tow package-I only really wanted the trailer brake controller, but the whole package is cheaper than buying the trailer brake controller separate, but you lose the power fold mirrors and are forced into the 3.73 differential(KR's and Platinums already come with the 4 leaf rear springs vs. 3 in every other truck).
Benson... go on Edmunds.com. There you can build your truck like you want it. It is dead on with the invoice that the dealer should be able to show you, provided you find a vehicle with the exact same equipment. Edmunds shows you MSRP, Invoice, and what others in your area are typically paying, as well as available rebates.
Do your homework on the rebates. Check Edmunds and check the FordVehicles website as well... I found an extra $500 rebate because my wife is a college student (I had to put her as a co-buyer to get it, but that's no big deal)

Which chrome piece are you talking about? The rub strip thats about 1" wide? I think it looks great, I have the metallic gray though so it doesnt stand out that much.

I had a local dealer offer me $39,969 on a Platinum that stickered at $49,434. (They added window tint in the front, a remote start, and a spray-in bedliner.) Plus $5,000 in additional rebates, and they offered me $1,000 more that what kbb.com has my truck listed for trade-in. All this without any negotiating at all. However, the truck was a demo truck, so it has almost 7,000 miles on it (not a problem to me, but that should lower the price), and I'm not so sure I want another car payment. In fact, that's why I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
The suggestion to check out edmunds.com is a good one. Just like mickey pointed out, it shows what others in your area are paying. If you know someone else paid $5,000 less at the dealer across town, you can use that as indirect negotiating material. Believe me, the dealers know what other dealers in the area are selling trucks for. You should too.
