6 Speed tranny?

Ok so the tranny in the 5.4 is a 6 speed but when you look at the floor shifter on the console it only shows D,3,2 and 1 so are the other 2 gears on the top end or the bottom? Or how does this 6 speed work?

They are on the top end, but the time you get to the higher gears you might as well be in D anyway.

It basically works the same as the old 4 speed. The difference being is you have one more cruising gear (4th) and two overdrive gears (5 & 6) at the top end.

Does anyone have the gear ratios for each of the 6 speeds?

Interesting, so there is no actual 1:1 anymore. I did not know that.

Yep, and there is no particular reason for it any more, especially for automatic transmissions.
