When I test drove my '10 Lariat to my house there was a bad rattle from the passenger seat. So bad, I thought that I would never buy the truck. It would stop if I held my hand on the top part of the seat. When I got home I played around with the power seats and noticed the seat belt was hitting the pillar. Aha I thought, I wonder if that was it. Sure enough by just moving the seat forward some and tilting up the obnoxious rattle went away - it was the seat belt that was causing the noise.

It's a truck, not a Lexus...

Anybody figure out a complete fix for this yet? I'll try bmwhitetx's advice tomorrow, but my truck just hit 1,600 miles (and the passenger seat hasn't been moved since a few days after I got it) and all of the sudden the front passenger seat started rattling bad yesterday. I had noticed it vibrating previously, but this was the first time it actually made noise. I was on smooth interstate going about 73 mph when I started hearing it. Then I proceeded onto smooth highway only going 35 mph, and it was still making the rattling noise. Like I said, it vibrated before, but until yesterday it never made a rattling noise so I have no idea why it just suddenly started.

Let's pray Ford uses their new Noise detection tool to eliminate issue such as this. It's impossible after all this time that Ford isn't aware that their passenger seats all shake like crazy in their F-150's.

I found that as well. No rattle, but seat still shakes bad

I hooked up tether from the headrest to the rear seat restraint to see if the problem would lesson and what a difference it made. Took all the shaking and vibration out of it also resulting in the drivers seat shaking less.

Sadly, not really the solution I'm looking for on a 45,000 truck.

Guys, I have a 09 FX4 with a skyjacker 6" lift, 35" tires and have this problem as well. I feel everyones pain but am a little relieved as I have had everything under the sun checked from my mod's (lift, tire balance, wheels, driveshaft etc.) I never really noticed it stock cause I put the mod's on a week after I bought it. I can tell you it magnifies with the lift and big tires, near 100km on Hwy my passenger seat is shaking pad and by box is bouncing. Anyone traced what is causing this rough shaking ride from Ford? Anyone rectify it?

I wonder if all this is related to the driveline issue that is causing the shaking of the two piece driveshafts in the F150's?

Hey i bet the driver seat would rattle too if you werent sitting in it. Maybe try it out. Just sit in the back and hold the gas down with a long stick. Let me know how it goes! ROFL

Probably... but a $40,000 truck should not have issues like this. I had a used 1998 expedition that was hundreds of times quieter than this 2010 f150... kinda sad

Unhappy

No worries. I had both a 1997 XLT and 1998 Lariat F-150, and both were extremely quiet compared to my 2004 Lariat rattle-trap. My 2009 Platinum is pretty good, but it does have some little noises, especially the driver's window- when completely rolled tight, it makes a rattle and only goes away when you roll it down at least a half-inch or more. Passenger seat shakes but makes no noise that I can tell.
