Going to place 2010 order, need help on color

Hi Guys,

I'm going to place my order on the following truck

2010 F-150 SuperCrew 4X4 XTR Package(Chrome Package)
4.6L 3V 3.73LS
Sony Audio
Backup Camera
Trailer Brake Controller
Tow Package
Rear Window defroster
Sync
Rubber Mats

But I'm stuck on the following colors
Flame Blue
Dark Blue Pearl
Tuxedo Black.

Maybe you can help me make up my mind!!

From the looks of it, you are going for something to tow with. I agree you would be better off with the 5.4.
And I always like the blue flame.

Well my dad works at Ford and he always drives a KR fully loaded so I don't really require the extra toys. Hes lucky to get 600KMS out a tank when my buddy with a 4.6 09 gets 800 per tank. I need to keep this truck for 5 to 6 years and if theres a 25% difference in fuel mileage, that will help when gas is $4 dollars a gallon once again or $1.45 L CDN.

I doubt very much there is a difference of 25%. I would be surprised if it was 5%. A lot depends upon other options, like rear, transmission, etc. I am getting 1-2mpg better with my 09 than I got with my 07 and 04, and the only real difference is the transmission. All had 3.73 rears and a 32" tires. Also, you can't really compare 2 different drivers. Both will get different mileage in the same truck, just because of the way each drives.
Is your Dad's a pre 09?

To your original request, for a color choice....

I have the Dark Pearl Blue and love it. That said, it does show the dust and dirt. From my experience, the darker the color, (dk blue or black) the more it show dirt. in AZ, it is really dusty so, it is a pain to keep clean. If that is a concern, you should go with a lighter color.

If not, then the dk. blue or black is a shart truck.

Add the tailgate step! I love the Dark Blue. Just a classic color. All the colors look great. I would pass on the gold.

I'm gonna have to say Black... Ford trucks look incredible in black... but only if you are willing/able to stay on top of keeping it relatively clean.

There isn't a 25% difference in the fuel economy between the 5.4 and 4.6. Sorry, if there is there is something else wrong or gearing is way off. Scrap the 4.6, it will SUCK, they are turtle slow (yes slower then a mini van slow). Remember, just because the engine is smaller doesn't mean it get's better fuel economy. it's a % of load factor all else being equal. The 5.4 works a lot less to keep the same load moving. We're seeing about 1 mpg difference between the two, hardly worth writing home about and on the highway there is no difference.

I was talking to the techs at the local ford dealer and they said theres a noticable difference between the two. I think 4.6L will do what I need it to do and its an upgrade from my 06 4.6L anyways. I will drive my dads 5.4 this week and see what kind of real world econ I can get.

first off...get a tuxedo black, because i would like to see that color it a XTR...and secondly, to everyone who thinks the 4.6 will not get 800+ kms per tank. wrong. i've had it up to 996kms to E with mixed highway/city. thats pretty good if you ask me. its got alot of get up and is a WHOLE other truck with the new trans. I would have never ever purchased a 4.6 in the 08 with the old 4 speed, but this is a whole other animal. great truck, great mileage and lots of power. granted its not the 5.4 but for occasional towing it will suffice
