Getting flowmaster muffler installed today (PICS)

Shop is going to install both the super 40 and delta 50 before welding so I can hear them both and decide.

I know most go 50 series. Any on here go 40 series? What's your opinion on it?

I have the typical 2 chamber, so i think its the super 40. Its not htat loud. I have the muffler welded into stock pipe. Its loud on cold start and while under hard gas, but other than that there isnt much drone. maybe if i had stainless and a 3" tip that would change.

K thanks that's good to know. I don't want any droning. How long have you had it? Did it get louder as it broke in?

the 50 is WAY TOO quiet!

I'd do the 40 or super 44

Is the 44 not as loud as the 40?

I think the 44 is a little louder and a little deeper.

But I bought a 50 once and took it off a week later and replaced it with a 40 because the 50 sounded only a little better than stock.

One muffler shop I called said they wouldn't do the 40 because I would lose to much backpressure. He said I wouldn't be able to tow a boat out of the water. Is this nonsence?

that's BS!!!!!

I didn't notice any gains or losses.

Just a gain in sound quality.

Hard telling.

I'm guessing he wouldn't make much money with what you wanted, and was going to try to sell you something "much better" that cost a lot more

If you are just installing a different muffler I don't think you should have a backpressure problem.

On my old truck I had a super 40 installed with a single in dual out setup with 2.5 inch pipe and 3 inch tips. With that I could tell that I lost some low end torque. So with my 09 I was thinking of going with a Super 44. You just cannot hear these 09s at all.

The 44 is louder than the 40 and the 40 is louder than the 50.

Here are some pics of the before and after. I so far think its ok its not too loud but there is some droning on the freeway when between 2-3k RPM's. Its super quiet when coasting etc. but gets loud when you get on it. I am wondering if there is a way to reduce the drone on the freeway.
