Key Fob

I have the leer 800 tonneau cover on my 09, it has its own key fob to open the power lock.My key ring is getting a little overcrowded. If I get the fusion key, or some other fob that has the Trunk option, is there away to put the info from the leer fob into it.I have zero knowledge of the way these work.

From what I have read, the trunk button cannot be changed on the Fusion fob. I'd ask at the dealer to make sure.

Thanks ibcop--It does not have to be the fusion key,I guess I am wondering whether any other Ford key Fob that has the trunk option, can operate independantly with the leer fob- put into just that function, to open the Leer Cover.

What are changing the leer receiver so that I can pick up the signal from the trunk button?

it's not going to be as simple as just changing your fob because the Leer lock needs to be tied into some kind of brain system (keyless entry, alarm, etc.). I see 2 options for you:

1. figure out the lock and unlock wires on your Leer lock and try to wire them into the your existing truck lock/unlock wires so that it operates in conjuction with your factory keyless entry fob (the Leer would lock/unlock the same time as your door locks).

2. get a alarm/remote start system that has auxiliary outputs on it like a trunk release and then you can wire one of those output wires into your Leer lock. On my truck, I have the Ford gold alarm system with remote start, it has a 6-button key fob. There are Aux buttons 1 and 2 right on the fob that could most likely be connected to your Leer lock. I actually have 2 extra complete Ford systems if you're interested, just email me if you want to buy one (not trying to turn this into a for sale ad...).

just curious, how is the Leer lock wired up or what provides power to it? Did they have to tap into any of your truck's wires?

I think it is just wired directly to the battery for power.
