Going over speed bumps rattle sound?

Whenever I go over a speed bump slightly faster than normal I hear a clatter when the rear tires hit the bump. It almost sounds like something metal is loose and when hitting the bump jolts it against something else metal. Anyone experience this?

I haven't yet as I only had my F150 for 3 days. I'll try to hit some on the way home from work and see if I can hear it.

Unhappy

Nothing like that, but I do have a rattle on interior passenger side that irritates the (*&^ out of me. Sounds like it is coming from somewhere on passenger side, but I have searched high & low with no luck. I discovered how to make the glove compartment much quieter, checked and taped any wires under passenger seat, made door panels tighter to eliminate even the faintest hint of sound, yet still... No clue. Checked under rear seats, jack area, headrests, seatbelts, seatbelt clips top and bottom, center console... I mean, just don't get where it comes from. It happens with every little bump in the road. Cannot duplicate it when I'm parked, no matter how hard I bang or stomp on anything. Pisses me off, since the truck is so damn quiet otherwise.

ANYways, good luck with your situation. Mine is hopeless at this point. Ah well, what do we have, 4 years before the next remodel? Guess I just bide my time.

Yeah, I have noticed something similar when I hit a bump too fast. Sounds like something around the shocks / wheel area.

Sometimes I have a rattle on the passenger side as well. It turned out to be the seat belt. It was the clasp hitting on the pillar. The clasp so that it is parallel with the door. Otherwise it gets stuck between the seat and pillar and rattles. Drives me crazy.

I hear a rattle sound in mine as well, but it is on the rear driver side of the truck, almost like something metal is loose. I would expect to hear this from an older truck but not a new one.

Check things like is the tailgate slightly out of adjustment, is the spare tire cranked up tight, is there anything installed in the receiver (if equipped), that will definitely rattle.

Exactly it bugs me. Should I bring it in to the dealer and let them deal with it?

well you might try getting under truck and bang on and move things around and see if you can find anything loose a little trouble shooting never hurt. good point anything installed on the receiver will rattle if not secured . good luck

Well, I drove my truck today after stomping and banging around in there the other day. The sound is much less, still there if you turn radio off, but very slight. Not sure what I did exactly to reduce it, but it is much quieter in there now. Thank goodness. Just worried it will return in time, since it is def still slightly there somehwere's, ready to haunt me again, perhaps...

It was the same on mine. Once you push it the sound goes away.

No not yet. I did get a chance to look under the tuck today when my flowmaster was being installed. Nothing appeared loose.

Loose frame dampener maybe? Look on the frame for a large metal brick attached to the frame. Make sure its not loose. Not all models have one but if you do, its located on top of the frame just in front of the rear attachment point for the leaf springs. I've only ever seen one on the driver's side but there are mounting holes in the frame on both sides.

Ok cool I will give it a shot. I will check and see if I have them and if they are tightened.
