Newbie ???

This site is truly amazing and I have done my best to read the wealth of knowledge that is available from everyone. Visited a dealer and told them I was interested in purchasing an 09 Plat F150 and I gave them a price and the sales rep tried to steer me in the direction of an 09 XLT. Is this normal? I am trying my best to get the 20% off sticker that a few have received on their purchase. What should I do next?

Try playing a few different dealers against each other. See who's going to support you on your purchase. I like to use emails because you can edit the email and input a price that's close to what you want to pay. That way you add pressure to another dealer by shoving the fake deal in their face. Ahh...the power of perception is awesome. I played three dealers against each other and walked away with a great deal. The salesmen only see the price listed on the emails they don't know you've replied to the email and in doing so changed the price. Good luck and remember don't give in. I probably would have cussed that salesman out if I was looking at a Plat and he pointed me towards an XLT.

I don't know if the deals just aren't as good this month or what?!?!?! I got my XLT for almost 29% off last month, and my mom went to trade in her car for a Ford Escape yesterday and they would hardly budge off the 26K sticker. I wouldn't settle for anything less than 25% off.
