Building new truck help

I want to get either an '09 or a '10 reg cab with a 5.4 and 6speed automatic. All of the places I go to build won't let me build any reg cab with a 5.4 or a 6 speed but when I check ford dealership inventory, I find a lot of reg cabs with 5.4 & 6speed.

Is there a site that will let me configure my truck the same as the dealers

What model are you trying to build. You will probably only be able to get the 5.4 in a reg cab building an XLT model. The FX4 is scab only and I believe the XL is 4.6 only. In the past, I have gone through the build for XLT with reg cab, 5.4, 6 speed,...

The only thing I know is that you can go to www.fordvehicles.com, click the build and price button, go through the steps required, select all of the features you want, and at the end you can click on locate a vehicle already built. I did this when I was looking to buy and I found it very easy. You can also search dealer's lots by clicking on that button. You will be able to narrow down your search for exactly what you want and the location of the truck. Hope this helps.

You can build an XLT with reg cab and 5.4/6 speed. Just wen through it. It does force you you to get 4x4 and a higher gear. You can only get the 3.31 or 3.55 gear ration. You can not get a 4x2 in the configuration.

Thanks guys

SF - I'm going to try that website now.

Kingfish - No 3.73 - that sucks! I guess it's the gas prices.

I was able to build a reg cab w/5.4 engine & 8' bed. Initially selecting the 5.4 engine, it forces you into 4x4 configuration, proceed, then select 4x2 drivetrain afterwards.

Unfortunately, their new build web pages suck. You can pick things like wheels size, but not tire size, even though with 17" wheels, there are about 5 different options.
