AC Whistling

Has anyone had their AC make a whistling noise? It sounds like it is coming from inside. I think it has something to do with the recirclulating flap. If it is on Max it doesn't do it. I have it at the dealer, but just wondered if any one else has had the problem.

I noticed some whistling also and it only happens when the vents on the back of the center console are closed. If you have a Screw model you should check this out.

Did you have cooled seats on? There's a separate fan underneath the seats. I thought my A/C was making noise but it was the cooled seat system (not sure what to call it).

Dont have the cooled seat option. The rear vents are open. It sounds like it is coming from under the dash on the pass. side.

I too have noticed the whistling coming from the rear console vents when they are closed, especially when the AC is on high. There seems to be a lot of air flow coming out back there, it has actually blown the cap off the 12V outlet a couple of times. I just leave one of the vents slightly open and that solved the problem

Mine whistles. I noticed it happens when the A/C is on 3 or 4 but the recirculator is turned off - so I guess I'm just getting "fresh" air. Its REALLY loud, but if I press the button to recirculate it goes completely away.

I hear a whistle when the rear seat vents are closed, so I keep them slightly open. However, even with vents fully open, this system is very loud. This is one area of design that needs work. I never had this problem with the Tundra's I have owned. Surely Ford could straightem some vent pipes or use different tubing or something in future models. After all, the vents surely dominate the dash appearance so it must be important. On the other hand, I do appreciate the front side window vents.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I have the same condition that Sharper4 has described in my 09 SCREW FX4. I had the truck in for it's first service and demonstrated the problem for the service advisor who in turn showed it to the tech. They ordered and installed a blower motor (even though the noise is clearly an air leak noise) which made no difference (big surprise).
I figure its likely a damper door not sealing properly as you can vary the pitch of the whistle with both fan speed and temp changes and its completely gone if the recirc is on. The dealer is looking into and they are going to get back to me.......two weeks so far and no word.

I had mine in for the transmission re-program and completely forgot to ask about it. But I did order a new sunglasses holder 'cause mine is slightly mis-aligned. When I go back I'll ask about it.

Mine used to but it has gone away... I have 10k miles. It gradually went away around 7500 or so. Got louder before it went away.

Mine does it on Regular AC on high. I took it to the dealer and they told me it is "NORMAL" and there is nothing they can do about it. It's real nice that my 39000 dollar truck whistles at me. Good thing I rarely use Reg AC, I usually use MAX so I guess I just have to live with it.

They told me it was the seal in the recirculation door and it would take two days to fix. I don't want to be without my truck that long right now so I am just living with it for now.
