Does the display on the dash maintain the rest of the functions?

I'm curious to see if anyone has installed a single DIN head unit in their '09.

The dash kit comes with a storage pocket that would go under a single din. The display just shows the inside, outside temp.,fan speed and says F 150 Built Ford Tough.

Do you use your phone? Also, does your Head unit work with the Steering wheel fonction ?

Steering wheel functions do not work with my configuration. PAC makes a part that I might try later. I have a remote that I use already so it is not a big deal. The Pioneer has Bluetooth phone and Bluetooth audio that works with my Iphone. I have a plug that I wired through my console in front of my shifter that I can hook my phone up to as well. With it plugged in I can controll all of the functions of the Ipod with the stereo. The model I have is a D3. The newer models have even more functions and can even recieve Video off of Ipods and Iphones.

I'm new to the forum and I apologize if the answer to these questions is already here somewhere but I haven't been able to find them. I have a 2009 xlt with single cd, no steering wheel controls, no sync and no sub and would like to install an aftermarket head unit.

- What harness do I need?

- Will I lose any other functions?

- Is there anything else I should know or will need?

Thanks for your help.
