The truck took-freaking-off. It's the first time I really punched it since I bought it. I was trying to make a pass to get over into the other lane. I was going about 35 when I hit the pedal...it launched. Pretty cool.
I have the 4.6 3V, btw.

I've got the same engine in mine, it seems kind of sluggish at times that I think is because of the feature that improves mileage, but when I get on it to pass someone on the highway it really comes to life!
btw, did you ever use your programmer on the truck? I'm not sure how much of mine is the new engine and how much is from the programmer.
Not yet. I was going to wait until I added a CAI. I decided not to use the Airaid CAI...I have an e-mail into the folks at Volant because I like theirs better, but so far, it's only available for the 5.4.

+1 I don't complain about my mileage because I know where the problem is...my foot and my gryphon level 3 what makes me do it.
Great stuff! Funny, I did the exact same thing with my new Tacoma just this evening. I had to get gas and I normally drive pretty conservatively so I thought "what the hell" and put it to the floor just after turning out onto the highway. OMFG did it ever take off

It's always nice to have that feeling every now and then. I used to do something similar with my old 97 with the 4.6. It wasn't as quick, but I almost got the sense that the truck appreciated it. It's good to just let them run sometimes

I had a similar experience the other day myself. I have to say that mine seems much more responsive than my 2003. Both of my trucks have had the 5.4L, 3:73 gears, and 35" tires. I'm sure the new one would eat up my old truck.

hey deere i noticed you went with 3:73 gears. i have a 2007 lifted f150 quad cab 2 WD with 35" tires and i was going to go with 3:56 gears.what would you reccomend?
sweet sounds good thanks a lot. i meant 4:56 when i posted, must have started with the 3 instead of 4
, my test drive for my 07 consisted of the sales guy taking me to a desolate road by the local airpark and instructing me to stomp on it to 65 then slam the brakes, then do a switchback turn in the same area at 50 with out letting the gas go. Best experience buying a truck ever!!!!! haha
I got about 900 miles on my truck sofar, just to and from work and stuff, punched it for the first time to pass some grandma.... it was sick... much better then my 4.0 v6 in my old exploder =)
4.56s are what most people "said" was a good gear but 4.10s are more then enough. Keep in mind you have 2 more gears then most people have had. Those 2 gears make it a lot easier to get off the line then the old 4 speed. It makes the RPM drops much less.
