Question on Price, Demo Trucks, and Future Incentives

I have another pricing question for you - the catch is that this truck is "brand new" but the sales director for the dealership has been driving it for the last three months so it has 3,500 miles on it. It is everything a new truck would be without the smell and some miles.

This is a 2009 Crew 4x4 Lariat with several options:

Sticker of $43,525
Current Negotiated Price: $34,650; and I think we will be at $33,650 tomorrow.

Question: Knowing that this is a truck with 3,500 miles on it is this a good deal? These two numbers represent either 20.4% off MSRP or 22.7% off.
Thoughts?

Also, are there better incentives around the July 4th holiday? They aren't out yet - but should we expect something better?

In my opinion a vehicle is not brand new with 3,500 miles on it. Tell them if it is brand new you should get a bumper to bumper warranty from either them or Ford till 39,500 miles and three years from now.

If it was not a brand new vehicle then there wouldn't be any rebate on the truck. As far as the warranty you still get the full three years because it starts the day you buy the truck. One down side to buying that demo is that there is only 32,500 mile left on the warranty, but thats part of the reason dealerships give better deals on demo's.

This may be a "new" as in never titled vehicle, but it is a demo vehicle. Generally, my advice is $1/mile less than a good selling price. $10k off MSRP is a good selling price with 10 miles, not 3500 miles. I would not pay more than $30k for it because for $34k you can get any other $43k MSRP truck.

I'm with APT, you can get the same or better deal on a truck with 0 miles on it.

Well, I ended up finding the exact same truck at a different dealer with only 10 miles on it. The truck is $120 more on the sticker and the options are better aligned with what I want. They also put a spray-in bedliner and window tint in...and I got it for the exact same price as the truck with 3500 miles on it.

Thanks for your advice here. I am a current GM owner and am pretty active on a GM forum...I am looking forward to being active on this one!

I will create a new thread with pictures when I pick it up on Friday.

A dealer tryed this trick on me when i looked at an 08 and they wanted more than a brand new one and this one had about 6k miles on it. Our local dealer ha snow stopped doing the cars for people who work there because they cant shift them at the prices they want as people can get new ones with less than 10 miles on it for same price. Good to hear you found one. Make sure ya tell the other dealer when they call that you got a new one for the same price.
