Anyone upgrade factory sub?

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their factory sub. I am going to upgrade my door speakers and sub - while talking to Crutchfield via online chat, I was told a Kicker CompVT would fit perfectly inside the factory sub enclosure, with the possible exception of using new screw holes to mount.

Here is a link to the sub via Kicker: http://kicker.com/comp_vt

Here is a link to Amazon for the sub: http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-CompVT-...5440125&sr=8-2

As you can tell, Amazon is much cheaper. Anyway, I am going to use an Alpine five channel amp (PDX-5) to run the door speakers and sub - I really dislike the loss of bass at higher volume levels.

I read some other posts where another member made a box that stretched all the way across the floor - I'd rather not go that route unless i really have to. I have also looked at the boxes from www.supercrewsound.com and found they do make a "half size" box which only takes half the floor.

Anyone replaced the factory sub?
