2009 mirror conversion

I have a 2009 XLT crew with the standard power mirrors that have the lighted turn signals.

I just bought some towing mirrors that came off of a 2009 platinum.

The glass is electronic controlled, they have lighted turn signals and puddle lamps, as well as heaters. They are manual folding.

My question:
If I want to get the puddle lamps and the heaters to work, do I need to wire in anything additional other than just plugging them in?

Also, to turn on the heaters in the mirror, what do you need to do?

Thanks

If someone knows of another posting that I could reference, that would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Well the heaters are controlled by a switch on the dash. Do you have the flow through console? It will let them run for a few minutes then shut them off automatically. The wiring may be there and you'll just have to add a switch. As for the puddle lamps I would just plug them in and see what happens.

Are the mirror heaters controlled by the rear defroster switch? I was wondering the same thing. Mine are shipping in the morning.

Yes - on my FX4 both the mirrors and rear window are activated together with the one switch.

The rear defroster switch... that makes sense - of course, since I don't have a rear defroster, I would never have thought of it - but at least the switch will do some good. - after all, if i have the tow mirrors on either side, I really don't need to see out of the rear of the cab, anyway.
