5% oil life

Hi all,

I noticed when I started my truck today that the message board indicated that I have 5% oil life left. However, I changed my oil 4000 kms ago.

I currently have 11400 kms on the truck, so I'm guessing because I'm approaching the "scheduled" 12000 kms mark it's giving me the message.

Does the truck indicate the life of the oil based on the kms, or is there actually technology that checks the viscosity of the oil?

If you changed it before the scheduled date you need to reset the oil life. Push the trip button on the gauge cluster till you fine the "hold for reset". It will bring up the oil life reset so you can hold the button down again to reset the life.

Thanks for the reply brlcla, I've never owned a vehicle with this option.

Thanks again!

The 09 manual has a lot more in it than the manuals of the past. Download a PDF copy of the manual so you can use adobe to search it so you are not digging in the paper manual all day trying to find something.

Go there. Motorcraft has all the manuals available in PDF (Owners, Nav, Sync, and Warranty Items)

Side Menu, Owners Guide, Select Year and Model, Then choose the manual you want to view.
