Ordering Truck from Ford

Hello,

I have a question for those of you who have ordered trucks from Ford. I can't find an F150 configured the way I like, so I'm thinking of ordering one from the factory - how does this work? Do you negotiate a deal and sign papers when you place the order. Do you pay a deposit? How do you cut a deal if the incentives keep changing?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I had to put $500 deposit down and the dealer ordered the truck. They did not require me to do any other paperwork but a price was agreed upon including incentives. I sat down with the internet sales manager - they logged into the ford order system - and started ordering the truck based upon the options I wanted. That part was really simple.

according to the dealer if the incentives change and I no longer want the truck I will get my $500 back. But that was verbal and not on paper.......

If you order one now I believe you have no choice but to get a 2010 and last I knew it will be at least september before you will have a chance to see it.

Good luck!

You cut a deal and agree to take whatever incentives are available at the time of delivery(or once a VIN is created). Some guys' dealers are nice enough to agree on current incentives but the dealer could take a loss here so not all are willing. My dealer asked for a small deposit. He would not specify an amount so I just gave him $500. From reading some other threads, it seems that now is a bad time to order a truck. Plants are beginning the 09 to 10 transition, and guys are not getting their trucks in the usual 4-6 weeks.

My dealer doesn't charge me an order deposit I have bought many from him before. You get the rebates that are available at the time of delivery. Ford will not honor anything other than that. If the dealer decides to then it may come out of his pocket.

Been dealing with the dealer today and was told that I will still get the same amount off the truck from the day I ordered it. And they confirmed it will be built next week.

They can guarantee any dollar amount they want to. I am saying they only get the rebates and offers from Ford that are in affect at the time of delivery. They enter the vin# into Vincent and it pulls the current offers.

Talked with the internet manager today who stated he has been contacted by three levels of people above him - including the owner of the dealership. He stated he would do whatever is necessary to meet the original price.

I told them if I cant get the truck at the original price then I wont take it and get my deposit back. At this point I dont really care if I get the truck or not. If I do great. If not - no big deal anymore. I will wait and see what the raptors will sell for in 2010 or look into the tundra again.

Sounds good that you will either for sure get the original price or your internet manager will do whatever is necessary to meet the original price.

My dealer does it this way. When you order the truck you have the option to chose to take the current incentives or wait til the truck actaully is delievered. So you can either lock in the price when you order it or take the chance that incentives might go up by the time it is delievered. I locked mine in with the current incentives in may.

Thats why I locked in the price with the incentives when I ordered. That way I was gauranteed to get the ones in may. I figured if they go up, oh well I still got a good deal. But if i would have decided to see what happens and they go down, I woulda been pissed for not locking in.
