I have a leveling kit that will be here on monday or tuesday. Also have the 20" stock wheels....

Anyhow, what is the largest tires, as in specific tire size not just "33 inches", that can be mounted on these wheels?

If you do a search in the 2009 thread using "level" or "leveled" it will pull up about all this forum has to offer. BDS claims 35 x 12.50s will fit but little info on trimming or how well they fit. You will find threads that show 34-34.5" tires fitting but backspacing, treadwidth, how aggressive the side tread have to come into play.

Drdug is running 34 tires on 18" rims but I dont think the tire he is running is available in the 20" rim. Same with the toyos. There is a truck running 22 rims with 34.37 with nitto tires and they state they thought 35s will fit but have not posted anymore info.

This info will show up when searching the 2009 thread. I am going to some tire/offroad shops today to try and find one with 2009 experience so when my truck arrives I am ready to go! Will pass along what I find...

 

I have a 2.5"AS level. I am running 35x12.50R18 Toyo M/Ts on a 18x9 wheel with 5.71" backspacing. I did zero trimming and only rub backing up at 3/4 turn in some situations. I based my tire and wheel choice on another member's 04-08(not sure of the exact year) with the exact same combination. He did a lot of trimming and I did none. It seems that the 09s may have more space but no one has really confirmed it.

I think your stock 20s are 8.5" wide with 5.5" of backspacing. You will want to find out for sure. That being said, I think you could run any 35x12.50 with little issue. The exception may be Nitto Mud Grapplers because of their huge side lugs.

 

Are you rubbing on the fender wall or somewhere else? I am going with a 20 x9 wheel with the same backspacing and +18mm offset. Would gladly go with the 35x12.50 tires as they are more easily available.

 

No. Just on some plastic in reverse only. It is brief and doesn't leave a trace so I am not real inclined to hunt it down and fix it. I can snap some clearance pics. How soon do you need them?

im running 285-65r20's (35X11.5) on stock 20s with a 2-1/2 level. no rubbing at all.

Thanks - I appreciate your response. No pics needed either and appreciate the offer. I heard/read somewhere that since the fender walls are plastic they can be easily modified or "pinned" back to resolve the rubbing issues. My truck wont show up until around the 15th of june - I'm trying to have everything ready to go when it gets here.

I keep looking at your photos and thinking 18" rims are the way to go. I like the 20's but also like a bit more rubber. Your setup looks great and you obviously took the time to get the right offset and backspacing.

Not sure I want to spend the $$$$ on the toyo MT's and looking at some MT baja claws. There is a $600 diff in price on 4 tires but I know everybody likes their toyos. Thanks again and that is an awesome setup you got going.

i got the 5901 installed couple days ago came to 600 even i got a discount cus they had to keep it overnite. but i have noticed that the chock sensor is not sensitive enough. i can drop my tailgate and it doesnt even warn me.. im going to get another one istalled near the rear of the truck and also a tilt sensor put in for maximum coverage. anyone els have this problem with the shock sensor sensitivity????

 

Dont want to hijack the post, but you guys with the level kits. do you adjust your headlights then? I had an 05 with 2.5" level that i adjusted the lights on but still got high beamed from people thinking I had my high beams on. My new 09 came with a 2 inch lift and I have been flashed a few times but it might just be idiots considering how many have not flashed me. Just wondering what you guys do?

 

Technically you are running 34.58x11.2 there. 295's would be right at 35. But you wont notice the difference by the human eye. But in some small cases that .42 could make or break it rubbing?? Just busting your Blz.

 

the rims dont touch at all anything.. well i dont feel it.. but i am getting 35's for the coming lift i am going to put.. was thinking off putting 6in skyjacker.. or if i want to keep the 33's .,, should put a 4in rancho lift..

 

I'm running the 295/55/20 Nitto Trail Grapplers with a 2" HBS levelling kit and haven't had any issues with rubbing until last night. As a result of all the snow and ice buildup on the control arm it began rubbing and smelling of burn rubber. Just have to keep an eye on it. Something to keep in mind....

 

What rims? and what offset are you running?
