09 f-150?
09 f-150?
Im considering buying a new stx two wheel drive. From fords sight i take it you can only get the 4.6 two valve motor in that truck. Anybody have any info on those engines. Ive only ever been around the 5.4's. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks
In addition to the new 4.6 being 48 horsepower more, it's attached to an all new 6-speed transmission and the combination is amazing.
I traded my 05 STX for my 09 XLT with the 3v 4.6 and the difference is so apparent, day and night.
Ford probably has 100,000 or more of the 2v motors in stock so they have to go in something. When those run out, you'll see the new 3v in everything. As of now it's not just the STX but also the XLT Regular Cab that is getting the 2v motors.

The 2-valve engine is a good engine. Not as powerful as others but a good running motor that should last next to forever.

While I do agree, the 3V 4.6L is better and the 5.4L even better. All have about the same reliability as they are all of the same engine design and block. The most valuable upgrade with 2009 models is the 6-spd auto, which can only be had with the 3V motors.
