After wash observations
After wash observations
After spending about an hour cleaning my baby, I noticed I have zero chips in my paint. I have over 7,000 miles on it and it is flawless. Is this unique to White Sand or does Ford put on good paint? I know eveytime I washed my old Lexus, I would find another chip.
White Sand, when clean, will blind you in the sun.
Another thing. Am I crazy or does anyone else the wash inside the rear tire well? I think doing so keeps the truck showroom clean.

With a white truck (Oxford White), you can really see the painted section in there.
You should feel lucky finding no chips - 5 miles after I drove off the lot, got on the highway, and had a rock bounce up and caught it next to my fog light. A loaded dump truck was up ahead of me without his tarp rolled over the bed.
Clear bra is next on my list!
Currently I have 2100 miles and no chips, hopefully I'll be as lucky as you in the future. Really wanted to clean my truck up this weekend but someone pushed the rain button, so no luck there.
Get ready to bend over for it. I got my entire front end covered, with the mirror backings, and fog lights too. Cost me $700. The shop that did it, has to have someone else come and do it so they only made $50 on it, and they wanted another $100 to cover the headlights, but I declined it.
I do love it tho. Just expensive.

I find the paint on my 09 not as good as my 06 but it but alos be because i went from a light colour to dark.. I have some sctrachs a gotta get buffed out, 3 rock dings and three hits on my window
Detailed mine this weekend between rain showers. All Meguirs products. Here is the process. 1- Clayed it. 2 - Scratch X (light scratch or 2). 3 - Polish. 4. - NTX 2 Wax. 5. Ultimate Detailer. Its amazing how it really deepened and brought out the shine of the black paint. Just turned over a 1000 miles yesterday. Looks awesome.
Let me tell you about my first after wash experience! I have the white sand paint. I am from Canada and when I first washed the truck it had 3500 km's on it. On the rear fender flare there were a few rock chips. As soon as the pressure washer hit the paint....off it came. Let me tell you I was super pissed! I took the truck back to my dealership. They looked at it and said there was nothing Ford could do about it as it is was caused from driving on gravel. WTF!!! I have a 4x4 and am not to drive on gravel! I went right into the salesman's office who I bought the truck from. The dealership is going to pay for the repair of the fender flare. Once it is painted I am going to put the 3M protection film on the flare to prevent future paint chips. So for all you folks out there with the white sand paint....watch your rear fender flares(and don't drive on gravel!!!!)
That is a bummer. I have noticed there are a lot of imperfections in my paint. I am not talking about swirls are scratches those are to be expected from a new car. I am talking about Under the clear coat. They are like welding spatter that has been painted over
. That kinda sucks but i will take care of it.

I got a big nasty one on the passenger side of the bed. But I really have to look for it after touching up. I live on a dirt road and got it before I installed Husky molded splash guards. Hopefully that will prevent some future chips.
