Now I did have to shop around quite a bit until I found this shop to do it at this price, but im glad I did cuz he was great and now I go there for everything. Yea if someone wants it bad enough maybe they will get it but I do have peace of mind, and if I cant get there when I hear it well thats what insurance is for. Knock on wood b/c I would be pissed!
The basic alarm and install is pretty cheap and my dealer could have done it for that price also but when you start adding 2x window modules, glass break sensors and digital tilt sensors it can get pretty expensive in labour and parts. I paid more for the parts than i could have got them online so i could get the lifetime warrenty and it not cost me a penny if the alarm goes wrong. They also said they would fit the parts if i bought them from somwhere else but if there's a problem then they cant cover the part under the warrenty as they didnt supply the part and they would have to charge for labour if the part was the issue. I would rather have the peace of mind that im fully covered than save $300 and not have a full warrenty. Also if you buy from another dealer and get someone else to install it you only have a max of one year warrenty and thats if the shop you bought it from is willing to exchange the faulty item. You really need to read DEI's small print on warrenty.

In your instruction manual it shows you how to ajust the sensitivity on the shock sensor with the remote. I have mine so that if i give the front window a semi hard thump with my fist it does a warning signal and a hard thump like someone bumping it with their car does a full alarm signal. I have the tilt alarm and aint had to test it yet. You dont want it to sensative as even wind can set it off.

My 5901 took the day for them to install. I don't think I got all those options on mine though.
