Viper 5901 on 09 F150
your price sounds reasonable with all the extras you got. it would be about that if my install bay did it. if they are charging you extra labor for the temp stuff call B/S unless it will allow you to adjust your ac and heat, but it wont. the new viper models have all of that built in. there isnt anything to hook up its just a program setting and im sure the shop has a bitwriter to do it in about 3 seconds. do yourself a favor and have them set your remote start to double pulse activation (push the remote start button twice to start the truck) as dei has had a problem lately with their antennas. RF noise has been randomly activating remote starts. for whatever reason it seams that alarm clocks do it the most. one guy actually had one where the car would remote start every time he turned the shop drop light on. (i would have loved to been the tech who had to take that panicked call)
OP, is your viper the 5901 or the 5901v. If its not the V (the new and improved one) I would wait until your shop gets them in, and save yourself the possible hassle. I'll have mine in this week, but I know that a lot of our other shops have already gotten them in.
Yeah...gotta love remotes that come un soldered too. At least the antenna problem was mostly with the POS avital systems.

it should say roght on the box. the v is the new version. same alarm, but without the bugs of the original ones.
OK here the update. The alarms is on and works great. Took 2 days in total and they fitted every thing in really nice and neat. That was a good start. They also made all my windows 1 touch auto up and down via the door controls which was also a bonus that i didn't even ask them to do.
But i did speak to them about the new model of the 5901 and they spoke to DEI who said that there's been no issues with the 5901's and that the V people are talking about is the code at the end of there part # which is 5702V and that there's no update to the 5901 series of alarms. I even called DEI to confirm this and they said that the 5901's under there part #5702V have always been a V model. They also had the issue that Audiovox said they would have with the platinum and that the alarm system is different to the rest of the range. Audiovox told me months ago that the platinum remote start would not function until ford bought a module that worked with the system. Well the installer tried the RS with the module that DEI says should work and it didn't. They spoke to them and they said as far as they knew it should work with all 09's but they have no tested it on a platinum so my installer had to get something from Ford that they use in the remote start system to get it running. In all they done a very nice job and I'm extremely happy. I would love to post some pics but there's nothing to see lol

Yep the model number is DEIPKFM. They said they was on the phone to DEI techs for hours trying to figure out the problem and there was nothing they could do to get it running. They ended up getting the part from Ford at their cost and setting up the system to run with that.

hmm, that is weird. remember I told you on the other forum awhile back, I talked to a DEI tech and he said the PKFM will work fine on the Platinum, he said the Platinum is no different from all of the 09's, he just said have the installer reflash the PKFM with the latest updates just to make sure.

I paid 600 installed for my Clifford Matrix two way paging with autostart installed on my diesel. It has interior motion if they break a window or crawl through the slider. Also the diesel took a delay module. I love it and it never falses. I told him to set it so a car has to hit the thing. That is how it works. I know if it goes off it is no drill... I also ran an extra ground loop for my trailer and bed goods. I can plug in and monitor my enclosed trailer doors while towing out of town. I have a 5ft loop wire I run through ATV's or tools so if they are removed it sets the system off.

Yea that black box is the only thing you can see on mine as well. And yes, I also have a platinum model. Mine isn't really that sensitive either. I had one of my friends (6'6" about 200 pounds) jump up and down on my rear bumper and it took about 4 up and down cycles of bouncing to set off the alarm.
I also have the tilt/motion sensor on my system, and found out today that the car washes that use a trac to move your vehicle through the wash, set my system off. It's because my system automatically arms 30 seconds after the doors close. So they left my keys in the ignition with the car off, 30 seconds later the alarm armed. Then the trac tried to move the truck. It worked but it would sound for 30 seconds, turn off for 15 sound for another 30, and so on and so forth til it was done (about 3 cycles of alarm). After that, I had to use the keypad on the door to get into the truck (doors locked, and yes the keypad set off the alarm as well). At least I was able to get into the truck, and deactivate the alarm and start the vehicle. Without the keypad, my truck would of been stuck there with me locked out, blocking their entire car wash.

You guys paid a lot for your alarms. I bought mine off of amazon for a little over $200. My local installer (DEI certified) Auto Solutions, here in Tampa, Fl, installed it in like 5 hours and charged me like $250. I have everything except the windows and trunk pop in mine. Now I did have to shop around quite a bit until I found this shop to do it at this price, but im glad I did cuz he was great and now I go there for everything. Yea if someone wants it bad enough maybe they will get it but I do have peace of mind, and if I cant get there when I hear it well thats what insurance is for. Knock on wood b/c I would be pissed!
