18" vs. 20" on King Ranch
the 20's supposedly give a stiffer ride, but i have had the 18s and now have the 09 with 20s and i could not tell the difference stock. Are you planning on lifting or off-roading? most lift kits fit 20s, Rancho's will supposedly fit the stock 20s when released for a 4" lift. 20" tires are more expensive generally. if oyu plan o change to custom wheels, then save the money the 20's will cost. i like my stock 20s
20's do look better but 18's ride better from what I've felt. My brother has an '07 F150 Lariat 4x4 with stock 20" wheels and stock tires. I have an '08 F150 FX4 with stock 18" wheels and tires. Mine rides a bit smoother than his and the crappy stock Pirelli tires that come with the OEM 20" wheels tend to flatspot very bad.
My dad is picking up his '09 King Ranch 4x4 next week and after comparing the difference in the ride between my truck and my brothers truck he decided against the 20" wheels.

I like the 18s myself, the 18s are machined and have a more rugged look to them IMO. Also the factory 20s are normally chrome clad which is a plastic chrome finished hubcab type deal that is glooed onto an aluminum wheel.
If you plan to go offroad a little, I think the 18s would provide more rim protection, and like others mentioned a less expensive tire sellection.
Also, I am ok with the look of a Chrome 20 on a solid color truck, but something about the KR two tone trucks that to me look sorta odd with a bling bling sorta wheel on it. To each there own.

I went with the 18s, and am having to go back and add the factory NAV sync, after to avoid the pkg that forces you to take the 20s. The Chrome 20's Just looked really odd on the Two tone Expeditions.

From what I have heard and seen, the 20's do not affect your payload; not sure about towing. The weight of your truck effects payload. There was a huge post on another forum addressing this with pictures from door jams to prove it.
Sorry, I just ordered an 09 KR Expy and the choices were Chrome Clad 20s or machined 18s on the King Ranch model Expedition. I made a bad assumption that they were probably the same way on the pickups.

I hate how Ford does their packages on some models. Just glad they had a truck on the lot with everything I would have ordered when I was ready to buy.
Ya, making people take a 5500.00 luxury pkg to get the sync nav system was crazy. I am glad I found a way around it by, getting the sync nav online from a discount Ford online parts dealer. I tend to get off road once in while, nothing real extream, but enough to probably mess up a 20 with a car tire mounted on it.
Ford has a lot of cool pkgs on there trucks, but they are so restrictive when it comes to the little things.
I bought a GM pickup last fall, becasue GM was the only full size pickup to still offer a Half ton ext cab long bed in full luxury trim. Ford offers an ext. cab long bed, but only with the 7 lug rims and in a heavy payload pkg and only availble as high as an XLT trim.

I have noticed the 20's do ride rougher than the 18's my '05 Lariat 4x4 originally came with. I was just noticing that on some of the rougher (SoCal "slab") freeways it can get quite rough with no load in the bed...quite jarring actually. My '09 Plat 4x4 rides excellent everywhere else - just a few particular stretches of freeways here in Ca.
