Another simple, cheap mod...

I've seen others here that have done this as well...and I'd like to thank them for the idea!

Goodbye egg yolk turn signals.

I am carrying this mod over from my '08 - saved my stealth bulbs to use on my '09

Simple, subtle, and elegant mod in my opinion.

Nice photo by the way!

Two questions....

1. What did you do just replace the bulb, or is there more to it?

2. What kind of bug shield is that? Was it hard to put on and is it solid?

Bug Shield Looks really good.

The bug shield is from the dealer. It's plastic, and stretches across the hood. I guess it's pretty solid. When I go through the touchless car wash you can see it flapping a little when you get to the dryers.

As for the bulbs, they are chromed bulbs that burn amber...I picked up from ebay. Took five minutes to install.

The original Stealth Bulbs -

Expensive, but guaranteed for life.

A lot of folks have been getting other brands on ebay pretty cheap.

Yeah I got mine for like 5 bucks on ebay. I'm sure it's one of those "get what you pay for" kinda things, but they've worked pretty well thus far.

I never liked the look of the stealth bulbs on the '04-'08's, but that looks great on the '09. Understated, clean and it helps tie in to the chrome grill.

Good stuff.

I ended up using just plain old clear bulbs in mine, they see more yellowish than the headlights, so there is a difference.

However, if you want the amber light, in the past I have taken amber bulbs and spray painted them silver. They look silver but will still light up orange.

I'm going to be doing this over the weekend. Did the headlight have to come out to replace the bulbs or is there a way to get at just the turn signal bulb? I haven't even opened the hood on my truck yet, it only has 400 miles on it so far

just reach up from underneath and twist the turn signal bulb out.
