Headliner coming down in '09

I am having a problem with the headliner pulling loose just behind the moonroof. Seems it is held up by five pieces of velctro. In my truck the velcro pulls loose no matter how carefully I push it up. I showed it to the service manager where I bought the truck and to use his words. "It is a cheesey setup." He said to bring it back and they would add more velcro or find some way to keep it up.

I am just wondering if anybody else has this problem as they are all built the same.

Funny you should mention this because I was just about to post about it. I noticed it yesterday I pushed it back up and so far so good, but I'll be taking it the dealer tomorrow and have them check it out and add some more velcro.

Yup, mine does the same thing. I push it back up and it only stays for about a minute. This weekend I plan to get up there and see if I can rig something up to fix it. I refuse to leave my truck at the stealership for 3 days only to find a wad of velcro. I will find a better way myself.

I heard others complaining about the sagging headliner behind the sunroof.

This is disappoints me; but makes me glad I don't have a sunroof. I hope Ford steps up to the plate and offers a fix.

On our '04 we has issues with the sunroof trim getting deformed...they fixed it ASAP.

Take it to the dealer, you should be fine

Yep, I have already talked to the dealer's service dept and they said to drive it and see if it comes down again. This is after they put it up. Of course it did come again. So I will call them next week to add some more velcro. I have also had a whistling driver window, and a broken driver's seat cover. They replaced the seat cover and adjusted the driver's door. I have a bed light that collects pine needle and other small debris inside the edge of the lamp cover. This is my third F-150 and have never had this many small nit picking things with the other ones.

I will say that the basic truck is great and once these things get corrected I am sure I will be fine. But there is something not right getting to know all the guys in service by their first names!!

Oh well what can you do but keep trudging along.

My dad always told me to never buy the first year of a new model/redesign. Let em work out the quirks first.

Ironically, my dad and I both bought 09's... lol. Fortunately neither of us have had any issues so far with our new XLT's.

I understand what your saying but it's actually a good idea to take back to your dealer to have it fixed. The dealers keep track of these issues which they submit to Ford so Ford can get an idea of what's going on with their vehicles. If a particular issue keeps coming up then that's how the fixes are developed.

I noticed mine is very loose right behind the sunroof too. Also, the sliding sunroof shade has a black smear/mark on the fabric at rear center.

Just for a followup on my headliner issue. I took the truck to service today and they checked it. They could not get the headliner to stay up behind the moon roof. So on Monday they are going to put a new headliner in it. They also looked at the rubber seals around the rear windows and since they are puckered they are going to put new seals in there also. The service manager said they will do anything to make me happy. Perhaps because they have sold me many vehicles they are doing this so friendly. The bottom line is that I am and have been satisfied with my dealer.

Sounds like a good dealership.

There's a TSB (#20733) on the issue under interior. I took mine in last week for the quick fix ("repositioning the headliner" - WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 501-05) and haven't had any problems since.

My dealer's service guy looked to see if anything was out from Ford and found nothing. I wouldn't mind if they repositioned it. But since they have ordered a new headliner guess I will just go ahead and let them put it in. Actually I am not sure what to do now.
