Service deparment a joke

Well i took my truck in for a service on monday and asked them to take a look at the driver seat as i kept having a plastic part at the front keep poping of and i asked them to change the center console lid as it was damaged from the factory. So i dropped it of to them at 7am this morning and just got called at 5pm telling me that they couldnt finish it as they ordered the wrong colour center console lid and when i checked the repair to the seat they put a couple of cable ties on there to hold it all together. Well i only checked this when i got home but i am super pissed that they fell they can rig my truck together with cable ties and expect to get away with it. This is the first time i have ever had to take a car to Ford for a service and i was hopeing they would be better than the companys i have had to deal with before, but it seems these companys are all the same and aint worried about the quality of their work. I even aksed them if i could purchase a spare bolt for the top of the dash panel and they said they dont have spare bolts and i have to order the complette top panel includeing speaker to get the spare bolt. I also checked the report card to see what they said they had done and a box was missing a tick so i aksed them why and they said that the 4x4 transfer case, front drive axle, clutch reservoir fluid dont get checked every 3000 miles or 5000 miles. I then said well why is it in the 3000 and 5000 mile box of things to be checked. He then said well it's upto the service people if they want to check them or not.

Do they think everyone who comes into them are idiots or what.

parts department wont make any money on a .50 cent bolt, so they tell you that you need to order the whole top of the dash.

parts department will do the same thing to technicians so they order more costly parts on the customer's behalf

Interesting I noticed my truck has the same issue with the seat, I just popped it back on last weekend. Anybody else have the issue, I thought it was just me.

popping plastic part problem? can't say I can relate. But to rig it up with a couple of cable ties is something else. bring it back and see what they can do. how much time did the service invoice show to place cable ties on the piece of plastic trim?

The zip ties are pretty shoddy and unacceptable, I wouldn't check the transfer case or front axle fluid on a new truck with no obvious signs of leaks, and you don't have a clutch master cylinder to check.

I'd probably tell your picky *** to get bent and service it yourself if you bitched about this stuff to me (aside from the zip tie thing...WTF are they kidding...), but lately I've had a really low tolerance for about 97% of the customers I deal with on a daily basis.

I would have a fit if that would ever happen to me. Aside from messing with your property they have messed with your wallet and your time. For me the monetary factor means nothing but don't waste this two time combat veterans time. It is their JOB to find, fix, and finish anything that is broke or otherwise out of place. This all comes down to a work ethic situation and these types of people need to realize that it's their JOB and not an option. 100% proper workmanship all the time, no excuses, no complaints or find another profession period.

If my dealer told me that right after he would be lieing on the deck out cold. Dont get me wrong i know how some people can be but when you pay to have a truck repaired and serviced you dont expect them to treat your 50k truck like that. I paid a lot of money for that truck and they are rigging it together with cable ties. If they dont like people complaing then they should do the job properly and if they cant then dont work there. Simple really.

Would you want oil all over your paint when you picked it up, Would you want the seat rigged together with cable ties, would you want to be lied to about the screws, Would you want them to service the parts they are ment to and mark it down as it was check in the records. They couldnt even pop the panels back in they had messed around with on the drivers side. I had to remove my amp and sub the second time around as my head unit was on 3/4 volume and booming away. What these idiots dont seem to realise is they only have a job because of people taking there cars there. They need to look after their customers a bit better.

i had an issue with my center consol not staying clipped down too. But my dealer ordered the parts and called me when they came in. had my truck back washed, first service and parts installed within 45mins. I was happy... other than them telling me to order tower mirrors would be $1200 plus installation. Guess i should have ordered those from factory

Just yesterday while cleaning out the inside I noticed that on the front of the drivers seat the leather is hanging down and has a plastic rod through it like it is supposed to be tucked up underneath. I am about to go in to get an oil change and will ask about it then. I assume it will just snap back into place but I will certainly look to see if they just cable tie it back up there.

Thanks for the warning.

I would have complained like crazy if they did all that, plus I know they can get the bolts for you. You might could just figure out what the bolts are and go get them at a hardware store.

Pick up the managers b-card and email him the link to this thread.

Maybe he'd get on their rear-ends for not fixing the problem correctly. The service guys/managers get paid well.

I do understand that real people do put these really nice trucks together and there are bound to be a few whoops. The dealers should be bending over backwards to make the truck PERFECT for you if there is a problem. Ford and their reputation is at stake. Have them replace the part or parts with one that stays on correctly.

If they don't do it right - call Ford - I'm sure they would love to hear about your experience at this particular dealership.

Alright forgive me for being a hater, but Ford service sucks. If it wasn't for my 2002 and now my 2009, I would never drive a Ford just based on my inability to get good service in the Austin area and my shaky 2005 and 2008. Right now I have 5000 miles on my 09 and need an oil change. I am putting it off because I simply don't trust the stealership to do it right. The last time I took a truck in there for service they screwed up the balance on my tires so bad that they couldn't fix it... then they replaced the entire front end one piece at a time trying to chase the ghost vibrations. In my opinion, they were trying to make money by filing warranty claim after warranty claim to Ford and renting rental cars to me.

And, in my experience calling Ford about a dealership issue does absolutely nothing, they will just tell you that it is between you and the stealership because they are independently owned businesses. I don't understand that since they are all "factory trained" technicians, but I gaurantee that's the response you will get if you ever call Ford about a dealership service issue. I bet they are different with sales issues. HA

Sounds to me fords fit and finish isn't any better on 09's than my 04 and they wonder why people go to the yota's?? But if u go to the blue oval news web site and read all the pissing and moaning from the guys building the f-150 I don't think many of them give a big how they put them together, which is why the big 3 are where they are now. IMO

the strongest or weakest link between Ford and the consumer is the dealership. find a dealer with a great service department and you'll be treated right.

The seat is the only issue so far that has been a build quality issue so it's def put together a lot better than a Toyota. Just a shame there are a bunch of monkey who don't care about your vehicle when you get it serviced. I have since found out that my wifes mate's husband has worked at another local dealership for the lat 5 years and he is now gonna do my services for me. He a nice bloke as well so i can trust him.
