My cargo management system (cheap version)

I had this 'cargo management system' back on my '05 Lariat, then moved it over to the '07 and now it's on my '09.

It's a real simple system that some people may find useful. The basic idea is to run a 2x10 across the bed, at the point of indentation on the sides of the box. If you look around 22" in from the tailgate along the bed sides, you'll see those indents. I cut the board to be snug (not tight) and wrapped the ends with carpet (using double sided tape) to take up some of the slack in the width of the indents. A tonneau was always on my trucks so it really acted like a trunk with cargo net (or board).

It works well keeping your cargo from sliding towards the front of the box. It works especially well at keeping luggage, boxes and groceries from wandering during a drive.

I think my total investment back in '05 was less than $20. The picture may explain it well.

YES! Today I was outside looking at the bed wondering how I was going to keep the stuff at the back from sliding to the front. My cheap solution was a 2x12 setup just like that. Thanks for posting the pic.

Phancy Economy Cargo Management

Many thanks to Big ole Truck and HoosierRealtor for showing me a great way to get a functional cargo management system for less than $20!

I painted mine, plus added Gripper Pads on the ends to protect the finish and make a more snug fit, and small circular Gripper Pads on the bottom to protect the finish. If you're not using a bed mat, the Gripper Pads also help ensure a quieter ride over bumps.

This was a great idea, guys, thanks for passing it on!

Yup, a real simple but effective solution. I have been using it for years.

I used keep one painted black when I had my drop in liner. It's very useful, but since I have a cover and a bedrug now, I am looking at another idea.

On my 2010 with 8' bed and free plastic bedliner. I used the the same 2x6 board from my 2000. I used angle alum and bolted them to the plastic bedliner. I moved as far forward, up to wheel well. Works great. A 6' step ladder fits perfect in the big half.

I bought mine at Menards (Midwest home supply chain) but you can search on Amazon for "Waxman Gripper Pads" and you'll see a nice selection.

Really?

I suppose y'all are *amazed* that those indentations are 1-1/2" wide, aren't you?

Amazing. Congratulations. I feel like I lost 37 IQ points by seeing how many people think this is a great idea.

Are you bothered by it? Why not just move along?
