Front bumper and fascia

I have a 09 platinum and I noticed the distance between the front bumper and the fascia is not the same on both sides of the truck. The space between the 2 is smaller on the driver side than the space between the 2 on the passenger side.

Has anyone else noticed this on their truck? I have seen some pics of other platinums on this site and also noticed that some of them appear to have the same problem as I have.

I think it varies. My boss has a platinum with a great fit and finish. The one I considered buying had varying gaps between panels causing a poor fit/alignment of the hood with the quarter panels (never checked the bumper gap for uniformity). I'm not sure why there is such a variance.

My hood and quarter panels fit great.

I probably need to check with the dealer but I am afraid if I allow them to make some adjustments that it will look worse than it does now.

I was washing mine last night and noticed that the chrome bumper had separation between the top of it and the body panels. I had room to easily run my fingers with rag through on the passenger side, on the driver side I could only barely reach in there. Probably from about 1" to about 1/2" on the driver side.

I also noticed that my hood sat down about 1/4" maybe below the side panel frame, I may see if I can adjust how that sits also. Not real impressed with everything just kinda hanging on different ways, I will see if I can adjust or will have the dealership do it.

FWIW I have a Lariat with chrome package.

Every '09 I've ever seen, when you look above the headlights where the hood and side panels meet, every single one it seems the hood is slightly above the side panel.

Look straight at the front end, right at the two panels directly above both headlights. They don't both have a clean straight line. It always appears as if the hood doesn't come down quite far enough to make a clean straight line where the two panels meet above the headlights, (both sides appear exactly the same all the time, like a quarter-inch hood alignment issue on every truck).

Hope I explained what I mean well enought to be understood.

I've never seen an '09 that didn't appear this way. Only strange thing that I've noticed in regards to fit and finish so far.

Strange, mine is exact opposite of what you are saying and is below the side panels, maybe only after opening and closing the hood a few times it lowers it so they are giving a little higher at first?

Interesting, my is just fine up front, but the rear bumper appears to be not the same height on both sides. One appears to be slightly higher, or closer to the sheet metal on one side than the other. Anyone have this issue?

I've only open my hood once, will check that out more when I do my first wash 'n wax and really go over her inch by inch. Will keep an eye out too for other stuff mentioned here, like back bumper. But so far haven't noticed anything else amiss fit & finish wise. One thing I didn't really even notice until I was thinking about cleaning her and what I would need/use, I realized the dash really is quite different from my 2004. The center console portion and glove box area is pretty much the same, but the entire top portion is completely different. No more reaching far and wide to wipe dust off the top of dash, it's much smaller up there and all covered in leather or something. Weird how it never hit me until I thought about in-depth cleaning, as it's coming up soon. bet I'll notice other stuff to when I get down to it. Still haven't even opened the rear window yet to make sure it works! What a beuatiful truck.

The only thing that bugs me are the little creakys I get going over any sort of bumps or holes, even small ones. Will play around with stuff inside to try and find them, again when I do my first big clean. The creakys sound like they are coming from b-pillar area, but it's def not the seat belts bumping anything - discovered that years ago on my 2004 so it was the first thing I checked. The belts don't seem to do the smacking b-pillar like they did in '04 if not put back correctly. Will probably take a vacation week in May and spend a lot of time with her my first super-clean go-round.
