Wheel well trim piece...

I've still got time to change my truck before it gets built... i was considering doing a 2 tone... stone green on top, pablo gold on the bottom. the only way this would look good is if I were able to get that trim piece the lariats and kingranches have..

the one that is color matched, and goes around the wheel well. Anybody have this setup on the XLT? how much are those pieces (canadian) and how do I order them. How are they affixed to the metal... and last question, can I still put on the stock mudflaps with that piece?

Let me know..

There is a factory mud flap that fits with the wheel flares but the flares are not an available option with the XLT. Bushwacker has a part number listed for the 09' F150 and their Street Flares which is almost identical to the factory flares but they're not going into production until late Fall last I was told. I have a set on order.

I have a set of PTM silver metallic on my '06 and they do look good but there are a couple of small gaps around the edges against the fenders. I'll get some pics if I get a chance.

What I think looks sharp is the XLT in Stone Green (monochrome, no two-tone) with chrome package and factory chrome step bars. The dealer where I bought my truck had one just like this in stock and it was a great looker. The wheel flares are just pieces of plastic, cosmetic stuff and in my humble opinion, only detract from the clean lines of XLT.

There was a stone green and gold two-tine XLT at the dealership I bought my truck. I really liked it a lot as far as looks but I too believe the fender trim would add to the appearance. Unfortunately that truck didn't have the tow package I needed. The stock wheel wells look unfinished to me and that is why I've ordered the Bushwhacker versions. I'll paint them to match my truck.

Big ole truck... i agree with what you say... and that's why i ordered it monotone paint color.. but then i see the lariats driving around and the truck looks nice to have the 2 tone with the wheel trim...

on second thought, perhaps it's the painted bumpers that also add alot to how good those trucks look like.

Ultimately, the longer i wait for my truck to get built, the more i second guess all my decisions, which kinda sucks.

perhaps i'll leave it as such, and spend my money on something else foolish!

I think all of us do that when we order.

Usually the options part is pretty straightforward as to what we want, but I bet everyone goes back n forth on colors for the most part unless there's one that truly grabs your eye.

I have to say, that stone green is one sweet color. I saw a brand-new XLT in that color in person, gorgeous (but the back of her roof was badly crunched from an idiot backing her up off a transport carrier so she was to be taken apart for parts and crushed). To this day I still think, "Man, someone with not much money would love to buy that beautiful truck even with that damage if they got a really good deal on it." Not like the roof was opened, just crunched along the back with rust where the paint had come off. Otherwise a flawless '09 XLT in stone green with the beautiful XLT shiny grille (much more eye-catching than the Lariat/KR grille).

eros, sleep easy.

If you buy the fender flares from the dealer, they'll likey need to be painted to match.

In my opinion, it really is the combination of the lower paint color, wheel well trim, and painted bumpers that makes it all work. I had a 2004 Lariat with Pueblo gold lower paint with the bumpers and wheel well covers to match. I saw similar trucks with chrome bumpers, and they didn't look nearly as good to me. My 60th Anniversary edition had the same scheme, only with Grey paint on the lower, fender flares and bumpers. Similar trucks with chrome bumpers looked better than Chrome on Pueblo gold, but still not as good as painted bumpers.
On my 2009, I went back to a monotone paint job (black) and chrome bumpers, partly because I was tired of always having to hit my painted bumpers with touch-up paint.

your right boys... i'm going to love my first new ford!!! i just hope I can still get the stone green! I put in my order 5 days after the cutoff from Ford for that color. I'm hoping they'll ignore the fact that it's a long weekend and get me that color (dealer hasn't called back to say "bad news"). Besides, i think i found 2 or 3 other people on the forums that ordered their stone green after the cutoff date as well.

worst comes to worst, i'll have to settle for that steel grey!
