TPM Monitor question

Bought a 2009 Lariat and put the wheels from my 2008 FX4 on instead of the chrome wheels with the Perrelli tires. Now the computuer is saying the tire monitor has a falt. Will the computer be able to be reprogrammed for the tires? On a side note the wheels form the 2009 are now on the 2008 and there is no fault popping up.

There is a sending unit within each wheel that is attached to the valve stem. (this includes the spare tire). I believe that you need to move those from the new wheels on the old truck to the old wheels on the new truck. Sounds like a pain.

There is probably a way to disable the feature but I have not found it as of yet.

Good Luck.

didn't your wheels from the 08 already have the pressure sensors? The 08 F150 had pressure sensors.

yes the 2008 did have the sensors so I thought it would read it and roll on.

The 08 have the tmps with the bands that go around the middle of the rim , not in the valve stem.

Dunno on the 09, but may have an answer for your 08. How many miles have you driven the 08? Do you park it next to the 09? If you are only going 50 miles or less before you park it next to the 09, it will pick up the signal from the tires on the other truck. I did something similar to my 08 Mustang with the same sensors. The factory wheels were stacked in the garage with the sensors in them. I'd take a trip through town and park it back in the garage, probably 10' from the old wheels. It would take a trip of about 100 miles without coming near the old sensors before the monitor would fault out. The new system may be more sensitive, especially if there is a sensor in the spare like the above post says.
