PLAT remote start installed, zero issues!

Got my Ford drop-in bedliner, rear molded splash guards, and remote start w/security installed. No problems at all with rmst install on my PLATINUM, it's a 6-button fob w/security/intrusion (1/2/lock/unlock/rmst/locator-panic). The 1 button is programmed for valet mode, but the installer recommended not messing with it as some poeple screw up their rmst and have to bring them in for re-set because they messed with the valet mode button.

So for anyone who has a PLAT and still can't get rmst, I have no idea why. The installed it without so much as a question to me. Works perfectly.

And I love the splash guards, wish they could have done the fronts as well. Already has noticably cut down on road grime being thrown onto the truck from the rear wheels. Should also help to protect the chromed tailgate pipe from chipping as well. Love 'em!

Sorry, still no pics. How can I afford a new camera when I just bought my truck? Unless people want to see my truck in pink... stupid cybershot...

yes, we've known this, thanks. I'm going to install a Viper 5900 alarm/rmst on my truck soon.

and what's up with the no front mud guards?

I got my Husky guards back from the paint shop, I'm putting them on my truck tomorrow and I'll post some pics. Just got a new Panasonic Lumix camera from Sam's club, seems pretty nice.

Also, people were saying for months that the seats were different but he said the seats no different, 401k, blah, blah, don't buy, 401k, refresh, don't buy, remote start is a deal breaker, don't buy, but now he says the truck is so much better, the seats are amazing and the remote start is no problem........whatever. At least he is happy now.

hehehe, true true. Still slammin' money away into the 401k, for sure with the market so bad this is by far the best time to be saving like crazy. On top of that, I still stand firm with my refresh vs. all-new. In no way do I think of this truck as all-new, as much as I love it and the things they changed or improved it still bears an uncanny resmblence to my 2004, both inside and out, and I stick by my refresh.

But the multitude of changes, combined with all the money I had in the market, made it easy for me to go out and pick one up. I still recommend investing heavily in your 401k's, as years from now you'll be very glad you did. I no way would I recommend sacrificing your financial future for a new vehicle, but if you can afford it without minimizing your savings, then of course go enjoy life as long as it doesn't come back to bite you. Oh, and remote start was def a deal breaker, luckily that was solved long ago (as Deano stated, but I wanted to throw my exp out there as well for everyone). And the seats? How many times have I posted about that now? I still stand by how they felt no diff. when I sat in a Plat about 3 months ago, but once you start driving in them, you really feel how comfy they are. Someone desribed them as "sitting IN them" rather than the '04 seat where you "sat ON them". That's the best description I can give as well. A huge diff once you start puttering around in your '09.

So yes, the 2009 is a lot better in every way, but in no way does that mean it's all-new (just look at it from the side, or look at the general layout of the interior). Extreme visual similarities in those 2 areas. By no means does owning one change my mind of those facts. But those facts don't change how I truly enjoy all the new features of the '09, either. It's firmly a refresh, I firmly enjoy it, and I firmly believe in maxing out your 401k to take advantage of this bear market. Luckily I had more than enough profit in stocks to go buy one and not hurt my future, in addition to getting over 10k off MSRP.

There was something else about the '09 I really liked, but can't recall what it was at the moment. Responding to that post kinda threw me off, but I'll think of it at some point. Oh, and I used my power fold mirrors the other day when going into a garage for my inspection sticker. Damn cool feature!!! Keep finding things I love about this truck!

EDIT: Yes, very happy. Proposed to my gf the same day I got my truck. Very good day all around!

Cool, be sure to post so I get an email and I'll check out the pics. Not sure why no fronts, Ford said they wouldn't work with the power running boards? Even though it looks like they wouldn't be in the way at all. maybe drilling the holes would affect the running boards somehow? I don't know, really.

Steve, how much the camera run you, if you mind me asking. Need to get a new one, need to take some nice pics.

My new camera is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 8.0 megapixel model and Sam's club had a special bundle package with the 2GB card, extra battery, and small carrying case all for $179+tax. A friend from work bought the same camera about 2 years ago for $300 (just for the camera). So far it seems like an easy point and shoot camera to use and another plus is that it has 10x optical zoom vs. other cameras usually have just 3x or so.

I think I posted this guy's pics before from another forum, he has a blue platinum and he has the Ford mud guards, front and rear:

Thanks, Steve. I'll have to let my dealer know, seemed odd because it looked like there was plenty of room for them on the front. Perhaps I'll pick up a camera today, sucks not being able to take any nice pics of my new truck. Gotta show her off!

I got pics of my white painted Husky mud guards here:

There's plenty of clearance with the front ones, so you should be able to get the Ford front guards with no problems.

To my eye, those mud guards seem too intrusive to the clean lines of the truck. But if it makes you happy, then it's all good.

It's the paint that makes those ones stand out so, the black ones are hardly noticable. I've never seen them painted before, certainly unique. What I like about them is how well they help to protect your paint, when you don't have them you can see the way the road grime sprays up from behind the wheels onto your paint.

Every truck I've ever had has had them before I drove it. My '09 didn't, and the difference was remarkable. They really do make a huge difference in keeping crap off your truck!
