New 09 F150 4x4 Screw Lariet with Sub question
Hey all...
I just got my truck on the 31st and love it!! A quick sob story...I lost my 03 Mach 1 in an accident by the other driver running a redlight and was forced to buy something new. So I decided that if I was going to ever be in an accident I was going to win!!
Well my truck is as stated...09 F150 4x4 Screw Lariet with as my State Farm rep said "every option known to man"
I will post pics in the next couple of days so all can see my new "baby"
Anyway...I love the Nav system and the sub...to a point. It seems the the louder you turn the volume up on any type of music the sub starts to lower it's volume. I have never heard this happen before with a stereo. It seems to start at about a little before halfway and by the time you are at 3/4 there is no bass at all.
Any cure for this??
Side note...I snooped on this site before I bought the truck to see how nice it is and you are all at fault for me buying this truck!!

It does that for a reason. A lot of people think that the louder a sub gets the better it sounds. The problem is it's not that simple. A sub has a sweet spot it likes working in and turn it up too loud and you will get more and more Distortion. For one this can damage the sub and 2 it's bad for your hearing and 3 distorted bass don't sound good. What they do is limit the max power output of the sub. Now if you had a bigger sub and better amp then you could turn it up quite a bit louder but the problem then is your other speakers will also have to be upgraded so that they are all balanced evenly.
Congrats on your new F150. With the prices that nicely optioned fullsize trucks are going for at the moment I've been tempted to sell my Slowbra for a nice FX4, but I know I'd miss it if I did. I'd still love to have a new supercab FX4 though.
Sorry to hear about your Mach. Did you have any mods on it?

I just have gotten use to turning it a little down from where the half mark is.Congrats on your new F150. Thx!! I so love my truck!! This is by far the best truck I have ever had. This nice cool 48 degree morning was fine since I just kicked on the heated seat and turned off the heat...man my back felt great when I got to work...LOL!!
I got the windows tinted 15 all around and a strip on the windshield and 10 black chrome on the moon roof all for $200 cash. The fronts match color wise but not as dark since they didnt have factor tint below them. You can still see someone inside...just not who they are if you know what I mean. I might have them go darker on the fronts (5) but I dont know if I want to risk that dark.

Good looking truck.
And as stated they do this to keep your sub from being damaged by excessive clipping. Your factory sub is rated to take "x" number of watts. If "x" number of watts is exceeded then the voice coil can no longer dissipate heat properly thus leading to a damaged and now useless sub. They limit the subs output the high you go to avoid you blowing your sub. While it is nice to have bass and play loud, it is also a lot nicer to listen to clean music then it is to listen to blown speakers.
