Climate control auto button

Seems odd to me the way the auto button works for the climate control. I can turn on the auto function by pressing the auto button but I can not turn it off by pressing this button.

The only way to turn off the auto climate control is to press a different button such as the defrost button or the fan speed up/down button.

Could someone else comment on if this is how it works on their 09 and if for some strange reason it is supposed to work this way.

That's how it works on my infiniti as well. The only thing I can change without the auto feature turning off is the temperature.

So what do you want it to do when you push auto again after it is already in auto mode?

You can always push the off button.

I don't want to turn the climate control off, I want to switch from auto climate control to manual climate control.

I guess I thought that if you push the auto button when it is on, then it will turn off the auto mode.....like all the other buttons work. Instead when I push the auto button when it is on, then the light on the AC button lights up (if the AC was off) even if I have the temp set to 80 deg. and it's already less than 70 deg. in the car.

so now we have two things that don't make sense, the auto climate control button does not work to turn off auto climate AND it's turning on the AC when it has no business turning on the AC

I thought the auto is ment to turn the ac on if the temp is higher inside than what you have set?? Where as normally you have to turn it on by your self.

Just like the thermostat in your house it maintains the set temp by adding A/C or heat as needed. It also directs the air through the appropriate vents to the areas most needed (doesn't do this part very well).
I set mine to auto, select temp and select what airflow I want, defrost, dash vents, feet etc and it maintians the desired temp for me.

That is what I think should happen also and this is what the user guide says:

AUTO: Press to engage full automatic operation. Select the desired
temperature using the temperature control. The system will
automatically determine fan speed, airflow location, A/C on or off, and
outside or recirculated air, to heat or cool the vehicle to reach the
desired temperature.

Could someone do a test for me.
1) turn on your truck
2) make sure the AC is off and the auto climate is off
3) set the temp control to something high enough to where you don't think the ac should come on when you turn on the auto climate
4) turn on auto climate
5) see if the AC light comes on (it should not but mine does)
6) if it does not then set the temp to something low enough to where you think the AC should come on (does the AC light come on and does cold air actually start to blow?

Perhaps because it's an active system and auto perhaps the AC pump run's but dont pump cold air out so that if the temp inside does get hot quickly then the ac pump dont need to get to temp and ajust quickly. I know that when im out my wife has the temp on flat out hot and i have the AC on and both can run at the same time to either side.

Actually my home thermostat is ether set to AC or heat, you need to decide. If you set it to AC and it's already cool it won't blow cold air but it won't turn the heat on either to equal the temp you set. If you set it to heat and its already hotter than the set point it won't turn the AC on. I'm sure there are systems out there that work that way (supply heat or cold base on temp set) but it might get kinda expensive as you cool and heat your house all day trying to make the temp exactly what you set it to. Probably would need to specify a temp range that is acceptable. The tighter the range the more expensive it's gonna be!

well even with A/C on it doesn't mean that it will blow cold air, A/C also makes air dryer in the car and that I believe is why it kicks on... correct me if I am wrong but just my .02

honestly jack4x4 i think u want to much outta the truck lol ... u want it to AUTOMATICALLY get to the temp u want but u dont want it to turn on?

YES in home that would be expensive but in your truck not so much ... If it worries u that much i think u should just manually set your temperature and fan speed n such

just my thoughts

Does anyone notice that the AC drips even when it's not running. My last car used to do that and so does the f150. It's like it always running even when it's turned off.
