Unhappy Is it really that hard...

To find a truck that has everything I want on it??.....I guess it is

I have been looking and have found ones with everything expect the TBC or it is the 5.5 box....ughh.

Here's what I am looking

2009 F-150 Fx4/lariat SuperCrew 6.5 box.
Color: Not sure on the color yet maybe red or black or blue.

Fx4 Luxury package/lariat plus package
Max trailer tow package
5.4
3.73ls
Rear window w/ defrost.
Power moonroof
Skid plates
full coverage rubber floor mats
36 gallon tank
Reverse sensing system
Rear view camera
Towing mirrors
18" tires
Trailer brake controller
Navigation/ Sony system
Leather trimmed captain chairs

Sticker on the Fx4 should be 44,050.00 after -1,000.0 Fx4 premium discount package.

Sticker on the lariat should be 44,875.00 after -1,000.0 lariat premium discount package.

I guess the sticker prices might be different because of destination charges which is $975.00 for me.

If someone can find the one for me their might me an award for you

Too impatient to order one?

There over 1 million combinations of F-150 available between bed sizes, cab sizes, engines, colors, trim levels, and options, so the chance of finding the exact color with exact options you want is quite small.

You could get your dealer to do a computer search for a truck with those options to see if such a truck exists in inventory and where it's located. The rubber floor option may make it hard to find a perfect match. Chances are there will be builds close to the options you requested, perhaps with more, perhaps with less options. Then you can make a choice to buy from inventory or have it built for you.

It does seem the 6.5' box is a rare option for trucks on the nearby dealers' lots in FL - I haven't seen one yet. Do the dealers in your area have trucks with the 6.5' box on hand?

I have been to the dealer already and had them to a quick search for me and nothing within 200-250 miles. Yea, the rubber floor mats are not something that it has to have, dealer can throw those in. Only reason I put them in there is because on the lariat they are not included like the Fx4. I know I have seem a good had full of trucks with things I don't really want like 20" rims, running boards, the "man step" ( I am still young and nimble and don't need any help getting in/out...yet...plus it makes the tail gate heavier)

They are hard to come across, maybe 1/4 of all Screws on dealers lots have the 6.5 box. One dealer had about 20 Screws and only 3 were the 6.5. If I was looking for 5.5 I would have already found it....

The man step is dam handy. Especially when you are getting in and out of the back of the truck with 30 40lb bags of anything. I pickup a load of salt for my pool. The wear and tear on my knees are minimal. Just about my favorite thing on the truck next to sync.

It took me a while to find a truck in the color I wanted with a 6.5 bed. I'm happy I held out for it.

The 2009 F-150 Order Guide has 19 FTOs, or Fast Turn Orders. These are the configurations that Ford recommends to dealers for their inventories. I couldn't find the pdf I originally had that detailed the FTOs, but basically, if what you want isn't one of the 19 FTO configurations, then you essentially need to order it yourself.

Personally, I've always believed with an investment as large as a new vehicle you should get it exactly the way you want it. Which means ordering it. Do it! If you sell your truck before it arrives, rent a car for a while. You won't regret it. But if you compromise and don't get what you want, then every time you drive it you WILL regret it.

What's nice about ordering is when the phone finally rings and the salesman tells you come get it but, you can't pick it up until after work.

When you get there, your salesman says, "You know, I could have sold that truck four times today."
And there are thirty F-150s sitting on his lot.

I know what you mean. Mine came in Monday and I went and drove it but I couldn't take it home because I couldn't get to the bank in time to get the money. That sucked having to wait another day to get it.

When I got there yesterday, there was a couple looking at it. I made a point of telling them that it was mine (and to stay the hell away from it!!! Just kidding).

I know what you mean. I would probably get it but I really don't like all the plastic on the tail gate either. And for right now I could jump in and out faster then it would take to unfold, open the step, lift handle, and close back up. In 20 years I bet I will be saying different through.

If you could find those FTO It would be interesting to see what they consist of. I bet you one thing is that just about all of them are missing the TBC as just about every truck on the truck is missing it!!

I told myself there are going to be no compromises on this truck, got to have everything. I thought it would be a little easier to find a truck loaded out but I guess not.

I should have ordered mine with the TBC, then just given it to you! It was the one single item that I did NOT order when I ordered my PLATINUM. Otherwise, I have every single option available ordered, totally maxed out PLAT. It was only going to be like an extra $150 or something, but I have absolutely no use for such a device and would much rather install a set of 4 upfitter switches in that location.

Good luck finding what you want, but I agree with everyone else. When you are spending mega money, go all out and get everything you want, or you'll regret it for years and years as you make those payments.
