ok guys (and girls) sell me
drive one - pretty rote answer. how about drivetrain/hp/finish etc etc. cmon guys - anyone out there with more than two brain cells connected out there. as i've said i'm perfectly happy with my 04 fx4 - is there something with the 09 models that will elevate me. as said before the exterior imho blows. everything posted before sounds like a 50's used car salesman
And yes, I mentioned drive train "The 6 speed transmission works very well with the motor offering great pick up with respectable mileage". Finish "how high quality the interior is; especially the leather" and Ect ect. "I average 15-16mpg mixed, 18-20 mpg hwy. I had an 05 5.4 XLT Screw, and the 09 blows it away. The room in the back of a Screw is enormous, and the fold up seats with the flat floors are great. Did I mention how nice they drive"
He's looking for a fight, not an opinion.
ok well i at least got a real answer from barrett. still, "i'm not worthy of one" and all those other answers - well hopefully the moderaters of the site will steer you in a better direction than that. look, obviously i've touched nerves by questioning the new 150. all i've asked is questions and got "drive one" answers - not what i was looking for. anyone remember the driveshaft problems of the previous model (i wasn't affected)? forums are meant to air out q's/grievances/whatnot. next...

Now all insults from both directions need to cease.

Better tranny. You said yours is having issues. Safety wise its the safest truck made. Trailor sway control advanced track. smoother ride quieter ride. To me there is alot of cool features like sync and the navigation is really badass heated and cooled seats in the lariate-platinums. An E locker and 3.73s in the FX4. I dont know what else to tell you other than its the nicest truck ive ever driven.
You have a perfectly functional truck that meets all your needs. The only reason to upgrade now vs. waiting a few years is because you find value in whateever the improvements are in the 2009 models. No one else has the same values as you, so anyone listing any specific attribute is worthless to you. They all gave you the best advice, drive one. Either it will impress you enough that you think you have to replace your current truck or it won't and you keep enjoying your current truck. Just because it was for them does not mean it will be for you. Spending $30k+ based on other peoples opinion seems silly to me.
I bought a 09 FX4 in January, here are my opinions:
Differencies from last generation.
5.4L no difference that I can tell.
6 six speed transmission is a huge difference. The six speed is a little quirky at first with subtle downshifts as the computer is learning the shift patterns.
Better gas mileage 18.5 mpg highway average. Last truck I had was a F-150 two wheel drive Supercab with a 5.4L and an automatic and 3.55 axle ratio that got roughly the same mileage from when I bought it new until I bought this one.
Tow package a major upgrade over the previous gen. A higher towing capacity. Tow command with the built in brake controller and sway control.
3.73 rear axle ratio and locking rear axle a big plus over last gen.
Tailgate manstep/stripperpole a major plus.
The room in the backseat of the Super Crew is way roomier with more leg room over the last gen.
The load flat floor is great since you you put tool boxes and other stuff in the backseat without the transmission hump
The seats are more comfortable. The heated seats are a plus
The Sync is a great feature.
The Sony Stereo is nice
I thought that I was headed the Superduty diesel route until I test drove an 09 F-150 and decided that it filled the needs that I had.
If you are happy with your truck, it is not giving you any problems and it is paid off, then by all means keep it and enjoy it. If you interested in an 09 then go drive a few and draw your own conclusions.

People can sit here and list the difference all day, listing the increasees in horsepower, new transmission, new sound system etc. But that all means nothing untill you check one out for yourself, numbers are just numbers. I think the best information given in this thread was to go test drive one. What one person feels is an improvement could be total garbage to another. Myself I am just impressed that the windshield wipers give a little extra wipe to get rid of the washer fluid drips. lol
Don't laugh Coby...When I first noticed that wiper thing it made me think: "these guys thought of everything!".
Thats not a new thing. My 08 does that as well.
