Anybody with 6 1/2' bed option on SCrew?

Does anybody have pictures of an 09 SCrew with the 6 1/2' bed option? With the longer cab this year the bed just looks really short to me. Anybody else think the same thing?

Maybe because I have also been looking at the SuperDuty it makes the shortbed look so small. I plan to lift whichever I buy which will also make it look shorter.

i feel the same way, even mre this year then the last model. i have the 6.5 foot bed, partially becasue it looks better. it will barely fit in my garage without my brush guard, but not with, but what the heck...ill build a new house in 2010 with a longer garage.

i was looking at a 5.5' and it looks way too short, almost like the Titan.

in any event, lifted makes it look better, but i still love the longer bed

I do.

I think its the perfect compromise. The 5-1/2' looks too short, the 8' is too long. The 6-1/2' is JUST right.

Just make sure to check out the payload rating when getting a 6.5ft box SCrew. There is Loooooong thread over at another site that describes the issue well.

I just got mine this weekend with the 6.5' bed. I posted way too many pictures in my "show off" thread:

The 5.5' bed is too tiny. I wish they had a 7' or 7.5' bed. I'm holding out for the Heavy Duty Payload Package that will be on the 6.5' SuperCrew in 2010. Until then I'll just keep my '05 with 2300 lb payload.

First thing, in the spy pics its a 5.5ft bed. Second thing is Mike over at pickuptrucks.com says that model will not arrive as it was dependant on the baby diesel which according to him is not coming out after all.

I was waiting for it too.

When did Mike Levine state that it is not coming out? Point me the link. The Grand Wizard and DearbornDerek recently said it was coming. Just because it was seen with a 5.5' bed doesn't mean that will be the only bed size. Besides I think that is the old model bed.

If you are willing to live with the compromises, the 6.5' bed is a very inexpensive upgrade at about $200. GVWR is the same as 5.5' bed, so payload is about 80 pounds less. Steering rack is the same, so turning circle is larger. If you have a 20' deep garage which is fairly common, the 6.5' bed truck will not fit.

I had a Supercab 6.5' bed before my Supercrew 5.5' bed truck. There is only 1 thing that I have put in the back that fit before and not now, one of my ATVs. I upgraded my trailer to carry both for convenience anyway. I'm not interested in a SuperCrew 6.5' bed.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/82...-question.html

- 6.5 kills payload much more than 80lbs. Why I'm not sure, but it does.

- I asked Mike in a PM and that was his response. Less than two weeks ago. Again, I hope your right. I want one too.

- Yes I see that truck was a old box style. My thinking was they had the old box in 6.5 ft box too so why would they choose the 5.5? If its out, I hope they offer both.

Yeah you got to watch the web site and fords figures. The build and price only shows a small decrease in payload when going from a 5.5 to a 6.5.Who's got a platinum with the 5.5bed?

I'm only half way through the FTE thread. Has anyone actually weights their 2009 Screw?

While payload does generally include trailer tongue weight, I wonder if the limit is because of the front GAWR. Add more to the rear and should be better off.

Okay, I'm convinced the 20" tires play a large part of it. 111 load rating index is only about 2400 pounds, so taking off the 10% that some tire manufacturers like to do drops it down. P-rated 265/70R17 and 275/65R18 tires have 113/114 load indexes, so even those premium trucks of yesteryear had higher tire loads.

Me. My payload door sticker says 1147 pounds.

as far as look wise, I do think the 04-08 Screw with 5.5 bed looks better proportional wise than the new trucks. And I do miss the short doors on my 04 truck too, easier for getting out in tight spaces. But the 09 still looks fine and the 5.5 bed fits in the garage better and I can still haul just about anything I want (just to have to put the tailgate down and use some straps!).
