Post something, anything....

Come on all you lucky '09 owners who already have your trucks...please I'm begging you help those of us who have 5 WEEKS to wait live vicariously through you...anything...throw me a "synch feature" bone or tell me something about the "manstep" or even an amusing anecdote from the car wash....I don't think I can handle the wait anymore My dealer is screening my calls (why can't he update me 4 times a day on the build progress)...please help us who are lost in the swampy bog of VIN assignment yet no production date.....

Mine took 2 months after I ordered it. My 2009 screw XLT w/ the 5.4 has been great. Sync works OK and I am pleased to have it. It doesn't do voice recognition well. Rear view camera works better than expected. Happy to answer any specific questions.

Did you do the setup for the sync?

Sync

My sync has been working surprisingly well and has rarely skipped a beat when dialing friends from the truck( some of them have pretty complicated names). If the sync has had any troubles, it gives an option which contact to choose in a multiple choice manner.

My phone doesn't work with the texting feature and I wish I could see how that works.

My ipod has been hooked up to it and has been working flawlessly.

I really do like the sync. I have updated to the new 1.2 firmware and have had no problems.

Here's something for you.

So you're driving up to the lake in your Ram and suddenly a boat pulls up next to you and you notice something....

Cool. I think I've seen an '09 commercial on TV once or twice. That's it. And I watch lots of TV with my gf when not working. I figured perhaps that's one of the ways Ford is saving money compared to the other auto manufacturers. Cutting down on TV advertising, which is very expensive. For example, I was seeing '09 ram commercials a lot, and that's one sad, frowning truck - on top of a company going belly-up like a beached large-mouthed bass.

It feels like my whole life I've seen more car commercials than anything else; and what's crazy is that 99.99% of the time you could give a crap because you are not in the market for one or just don't care about whatever car they happen to be showing. Even the average joe who just keeps getting deeper and deeper into debt only buys one every 5 years on average. When a car commercial comes on, you get up and go make a sandwich. Who needs 'em? Who actually watches them??? Honestly?!?

Remember the 2004 F-150 in 24 a few years back? Of course, that was awesome!
Remember the car commercial you just saw 5 mintues ago on TV? Nope, absolutely not.

Think of the money they could save, never mind our sanity. The only car commercial I can remember from TV was the one called "America's Truck" featuring the introduction of the all-new 2004 F-150. There's never been a better commercial for a vehicle.

How about this: What do you guys who own one have to say about this guy's review? --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HKNqT1axRM&NR=1

CF, I was just watching that guy's video. He says he doesn't know if it is going to rust in 4 years? and he likes the 08 transmission better. The guy is crazy.

Edit: And he just deleted about 6 comments that exposed him for his comments on the tranny. I don't trust this guy.

WOW - Barritia, pretty cool and I liked when there were racing side by side - looked pretty realistic. How are they powered..by gas engines or electric motors?

OK...what's next

I don't think I could ever custom order a truck... I don't have the patience. A local dealer found the truck for me on the other side of the state but the numbers didn't work out, I called the other dealer to ask a question about the truck and that sales guy stunned me with an offer. The truck was delivered next day. I've been in Lariat bliss for weeks now and the only thing I sacrificed was the Sony system... no biggie, I have my aftermarket stuff I'll be putting in. The sync is bad-****. It indexes quickly and after a few minutes of plugging in my iPod I could say "play track <song title>" and BAM! 2 seconds later its playing that song. Technology rocks. This truck rocks. I don't know what I would do if I had to wait for it....

Yeah they are 2 stroke tuned engines. They put out about 5.5-6hp from a 26cc engine depending on what route you go with the engine. They will do about 40-45mphmph out of the box and about 60-70mph with a good engine. They are big, as you could prob see. Me and my bro in law run them and they do eat cash like you wouldnt beleive but boy they are fun. I have done some 20ft high by 40-60ft long jumps. They start at about $800 for a kit that is ready to run. I have put about $3.5k into mine so far. But it's looking pimp. I will post a pick up of mine when my new a-arms come in that i snapped lol.

Yeah, my first place I went also did everything in their power to find me a Platinum as close to what I wanted to order as possible. They came back to me time and again, asking me to look over the truck specs they found. Over and over again. And I just kept saying that no matter what they found, I would never take a truck off a dealer lot. I order, or I don't buy. That simple. It took them forever, but they finally saw I was serious and stopped searching.

I've done it both ways and if I could have found what I wanted on the lot - I would have bought it - but here in SoCal there weren't very many Platinums to be found...Galpin (Nations Largest volume Ford Dealer) had about 8 of them - but they were all the 6.5' with the "elephant ear" mirrors (max trailer tow package). So I was out of luck there. One thing I learned a long time ago...is that when I shell out the mula/clams/dough-ray-me/dinero on a new vehicle - it has to be exactly what I want - or it's gonna bug me everytime I drive it.......I had to order and now I must wait, and wait, and wait...<sigh>
