Wind whistle with bug shield!

I have a slight wind whistle with the bug shield installed. Has anyone else experienced this. If so what is the solution. I just adjusted the shield to a slightly lower postion and I will try it tomorrow. The whistle comes in around 80-85 km/h. Is seems to be from the front drivers side of the truck.

What bug shield do you have? Mine does a little but I thought it was the vent visor.

Ditto on my 08 too but where I live we have a lot of gravel trucks on the hiway so its the lesser of the two evils.

I have the full smoked one! It is not extreamly bad but noticable. I had the truck for about a week before the shield was installed and it was quiet. I installed the shield and now the noise. I am going to remove it today and see if it goes away. I will keep everyone posted!

I contacted the parts department at the ford dealer with the problem. They contacted ford and ford said they were aware of the problem and have no solution yet. They refunded me my money and I had the whole front end 3m'ed. No whistle with all the the front protected. My dealer was great about returning it.

Keep us updated if you would please, I have the same problem. It is very slight, and only noticable really in higher winds, so I am torn on whether to just deal with it or take it off. If anyone hears of a solution, or fix, I would appreciate hearing it.

Thanks.

not to sound like a smart *** but ... i have a solution ... TAKE IT OFF!

3M is the way to go imo. i hate bug shields especially on the new trucks. Drop by a bmw/mercedes dealer most of them do it and i dont think would have a prob doing one of our trucks.

friend has it on his superduty now for 3+ years and you cant tell its there. Wash and wax it like you would your paint and your good to go. No ripple/bubbling on his from driving texas back roads and highways in the 100+ degree heat each summer! (our area is under alot of construction to lots of rocks getting thrown at bumpers)

My 07 chrome/paint is starting to chip and look like ****!!! debating on 09 or going ahead and modding and 3m i cant decide i love the new trucks

I am really thinking about the 3M stuff, My 06 had a good amout of rock damage to the front bumper. Not alot but more then I wanted to look at.

Has anyone install the 3m stuff or should it be done by a pro?

I had the whole front end done as well as the rear door sills and the rear bumper sides for $560.00. This included the front lights and fog lights. It looks great and I am very picky. The place that applies it must do it right so look around and get references. Best to see their work before hand. If you are in a cold climate make sure that the company recommends keeping it over night so the 3m has time to bond properly! This is what I was told.
