You can build the truck you want, then search local dealers to for similar trucks

also http://www.forddirect.com and search by zip code. Then keep logging out and changing the zip code to see what is out there.

I have noticed that Dealer inventory seems low on the the 2009 F150, 250s and Sport Tracs. I still see a few 2008s. Is Ford holding back on 2009 shipments or is just my imagination. You can't complain about low sales if you don't have inventory on the lot.

The dealer I bought mine from did a dealer location check for me. We put in what i wanted and it brought up a list of trucks that fit closest to what i wanted. Turned out that the closest one was 129 miles away. So the did a dealer to dealer buy. My salesman said there not ordering a lot of trucks since there not moving as fast as they use to. so im guessing they have probably slowed production as well.

thanks,
The best way is to go to a dealer & have them search. They can search the region in a flash. Otherwise, that annoying change-the-zip-code method is the only way.

I found this out the other day.

http://www.dealerconnection.com/

Click on FORD, then enter your zip. It pulls up the closet 20 dealers. Not as good as going the the dealer yourself but better then only getting 5 dealers then having to change zip.

Why would they stock a slow-selling vehicle? Just doesn't make financial sense. A lot of stock investors look at company inventory levels, and if a retailer has large inventory levels in a down economy it means nothing is selling and the need to discount, etc. etc. Comapnies want their stock price to go up, so keeping inventories in line with actual customer patterns is essential, especially in this economy.

I had to go far out just to see a Platinum. Only 1 dealer anywhere near me even stocks them on the lot, and only 2 at that. The others have a few of the lower models like XL's and XLT,s and then a few Lariat's. You can't blame them, they want to stay in business. If you need something specific, they can do the searches like mentioned, and/or they can order one for you from the factory. Everyone just needs to understand no one is buying automobiles, never mind large automobiles.

I for one don't mind, as it means I will soon be joining the few on here who own one. So unlike in 1997 and 2004, perhaps it will be some time before the roads are inundated with them and I can be one of the few for awhile longer than usual. Win for me -win for Ford not over-producing then having to discount/take loss.
