I'm looking at a lariat that says 'white chocolate metalic' on the factory
invoice. Is that the same as 'white sand metalic'? Nov. 08 build date.

Welcome to the boards first of all. And im not sure about the White Sand but the White Chocolate is my second favorite color next to the razor red. It was offered on the Limited Edition F-150 last year I think. It has a very deep color to it almost like a candy in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. It's strange that White Chocolate is not even listed on
Ford (Canada) web site. I closed the deal on it today. It wasn't my first
choice for looks but, working in construction, I figured it would look clean for
an extra day or two. After 18 years of silver, it was time for a change.

The window sticker was not on the truck when I saw it. This was a deal that
fell apart on a customer ordered truck. The purchase agreement says white chocolate. I saved an additional $1000 because the truck was ordered before
a price increase.(Canada) The dealer says its just a name change but it looks a little darker than "white sand" pictures I've seen, it's tough to compare.
Regardless, it will be in my driveway on Saturday.

Then the dealer just wrote the wrong color on the purchase agreement because there is no white chocolate for 2009 that I am aware of. Post some pics when you pick it up and good luck.

Rambo --I think what he wants to know is if it is the same color, when I ordered my 2009 Lariat in early January The dealers order guide still reffered to it as White Chocolate tri coat, and not White sand tri coat, so I am going to assume they are the same color.I will know soon.

I love the White Sand Tri-Coat, too, but that $435 additional cost stinks. Same with the Razor Red (my 1st choice) - it has a $250 adder. Now, I wonder how much harder, and more expensive it is to repair in the event of some accident.

Question

I didn't know the red costs more too, thought it was just the sand. I wonder why they charge more for those colors?

The white sand didn't impress me, and that was the first Plat I saw in person. Kind of reminds me of a nice bright white vehicle that hasn't been taken care of, has sat in the sun for a few years, and has gotten that yellow-ey color to it now.

Still, strange they charge more for just a diff color. I prob didn't notice the razor red price diff where I was only looking at Plat's. By no means did the white sand appear to be more durable than any of the other colors I checked out. Unless the pre-yellowing means you don't have to worry about it yellowing down the road.

I'm sure the cost adder is because of the clearcoat being tinted. I LOVE the Razor Red. It would be worth the $250 for me.

Not sure what the dealer has done to that Platinum Comet but mine dont look yellow at all. You must have been looking at it under the lot lights or something has the color is more pearl white than anything. I heard that the color is hard to match as it uses two different coats to achieve the affect it has when the the sun hits it. Also there's only one way to view white sand and thats in the sun. The paint looks flat in dull light but when the sun hits it wow.

You're paying a little more for the paint itself, and more for the extra labor required to apply the paint. Some paint jobs are dual and even tri coats that require more time with multiple passes by the paint guns. The dual and tri-coats usually "pop" more in the sun and have more depth to them when shined up.

All red paints cost more than most other colors due to the fact that red tint costs more. They pass on the extra cost.
