When will the 2010 models be here
I was just thinking about my order for the Platinum and wondering if it is worth the extra wait. So far if i add in the cost of $3+k on repairs to my current suv and time lost at work due to being in the shop and the devaluation of the suv since i was meant to get my truck i am down nearly $10k in loss due to the delay of the truck and i am also worried about the devaluation of the new truck when the new model comes out. People pay new car prices for the privilege of being the first to own a new style of vehicle and accept that they are gonna lose a lot of money and its getting to the point now where i really feel that i ain't one of the first to drive a 09 vehicle. I have seen so many 09 trucks and cars of other brands driving about now that i really feel let down by Ford.
But the thing that is worrying me more is when they bring out the new models at the time they are meant to next year then my 2009 will be outdated within 6 months if they ship it on the date they are saying to expect it. So I'm paying full price for a truck that will be updated in six months time.
Really don't know if i should cancel the order as it's just to much money ford have already cost me with the delays and i really don't want them costing me anymore money

I'd cancel. I never preorder a vehicle in the first year of a major redesign. I always wait till they've been on the street for a while and bugs that did not show up in pre-production testing have surfaced and been taken care of. If you NEED a new truck right now, your money will be best spent on a leftover 08, there are some excellent deals out there. You won't find any with all the toys you want, but how fussy are you?

Lol you dont even wanna know. If i do get this truck i will be spending over an hour checking it over for ding and problems before i leave the lot. Made this mistake before and a car had a couple of marks in the paint work. Well as soon as i drove of dealer lot it was my problem.
Know what ya mean about getting new models but if ford have really done as much testing as they say then i hope for there sake that my truck has no problems.

I agree. While I love the '09 F150, I wasn't real thrilled about being a beta tester for the '04 F150. There's always kinks and bugs that get worked out in the next couple of model years after a new release.

Run in the guinea pig wheel, chasing problems for years?
Agreed. Being a guinea pig for a major refresh like this would suck, just like it did for those like me who bought the all-new '04 model in late '03/early '04.
My 2004 developed a number of squeeks 'n rattles, as well as the ever-persistent absolutely awful constant engine whine while giving the vehicle gas.
I plan to buy a 2010, Job 2. Financials withstanding of course [401(k) maxed, still no debt, etc.].
I would imagine the 2010's will start hitting in Sept. 2009. I'll order mine in March or April of 2010 to be sure of getting one of the Job 2 models by May or June, right when the weather is getting nice so I can actually enjoy it.
I feel so bad for those who get stuck with a 2009; between all the bugs that always show up in new models, plus the huge decrease in value when the EcoBoost's hit, plus the fuel savings they will lose out on without EcoBoost, plus the power gains with the EcoBoost they will also lose out on, and all that on top of the fact the '09's will only be out for maybe 9 months before the '10's start hitting lots. And anyone who buys one of the first '09's won't even get any time to enjoy it for many months as we are already hitting the beginning of the cold season and blistery winter months right ahead (road salt, dirt chunks getting kicked up, assorted detritus & debris... ugh).
Plus we can also hope they fix the remote start issue with the Platinum's for 2010, as well as include the Upfitter switches in the F-150, not just the SD's.

I'm seriously tempted to go buy one of the 2 leftover 08 XL's at my local dealer - I can get one for $12k and they offered me $4k for mine. However, they are just too stripped out for my liking. I *WANT* the V6 and the stick, but besides A/C, they have NOTHING. Rubber floor, no cruise, crappy Hankook tires, etc. etc. My 03 XL has the same trim as the later model STX.

I think a lot of people will be sad they didn't wait for EcoBoost. Although I should have stated that I totally understand those who have had leases come up and they get an '09, makes total sense, still an amazing vehicle. Or if their current vehicle is having major issues. But those who CAN wait, I think will be very pleased with the mpg $avings of the EcoBoost, never mind the increase in power whatever it may be.

It all depends on how many miles you have on your current truck. If you already hit the 100k mark, get an 08. It might be a while before Ford offers
F-150 with a manual transmission.
