I'm thinking the reason the engine choices are limited is CAFE requirements. That's probably also why the 6.2 is on hold.

yea the STX decal does look weird in person.

The 09s are very tempting b.c they have so much new stuff going into them....

you also can't order the reg cab 4.6 3v unless you get 4x4 or long bed

It must have something to do with EPA weight class for fuel economy testing or something screwy like that.

As many have noted, I also don't like the additional flat black panel behind the side glass. It would look better painted body color or gloss black like on the '04's.

i kinda liked those rear doors. maybe it easy to access stuff in the truck rather than climbing around to grab stuff behind the seats.

My first choice would be a regular cab STX 4x4 with 5.4 and the e-locker from the FX4. Since Ford won't let me have that my second choice would be a regular cab FX4, but you can't get that any more either. I really don't understand why Ford and all automakers for that matter combine option packages the way they do. It's fine if they want to package options but at least leave let people special order a truck exactly how they want it. Is that too much to ask? And while I'm at it I'd like to be able to get the two trucks I already mentioned with a slick shifting 6 speed manual. But now I'm starting to sound like someone else.

I don't like the look of lights or the front grill on the 09's, ford has a tendency to get pretty gaudy in the looks department. The big silly reflectors on the lincoln look like ****, and my '02 Mustang had a bunch of phony scoops. It's like Ford hires teenagers to design.

edit: I want to add the "Super Duper" on the tailgates of the F250's. I think that's kind of silly. That's up there with the phony hood scoop on my mustang. It's also like putting a big silly wing. I'm surprized that ford doesn't put wings and phony scoops on the F150 yet. I guess they are happ with "Super Duper" and silly lights and reflectors.

Iguess all the american auto companies do this, like pontiac and "Ram Air"

If you want the Reg.Cab short bed with the 5.4 you have to go with the XLT

100% agreed. The flat black pillars have always looked absolutely awful, and truly taken away from an otherwise sleek looking truck. Really breaks up the flow of the vehicle when your eyes come to a screeching halt because of the odd out-of-place look of the flat black pillars. Thank goodness they were glossy for my '04 Lariat!

And the regular cabs for '09 look even worse than the '04-'08's, as they have a double-whammy of flat black pillars. Absolutely gross, even on a black truck. Just terrible looking. Can you get a Platinum in a regular cab? That would solve the problem for those wanting a regular cab but with nice looking pillars.

Looks to me like the KR and Platinum is Screw only. Regular cab is only available on XL, STX, and XLT.

I was surprised too that Ford did away with the xtra 2 rear doors on the regular cab. They went with a wider door, and stuck on the plastic for the xtra space that used to be the two rear windows. The 04-08 reg cab looks just like a shortened scab to me, but I'm biased. I've had the scabs, and bought the reg cab. I do like the rear doors, and surprised I could fit a whole cart load of groceries in behind the seats, kinda like a shortened scab without the seat. I also like the small windows! Not sold on the tailgate, but do like the front grill. Looks alittle top heavy and in need of some "oversize" tires.

As far as my likes, just like everyone else I like that they went away with those useless small doors, I thought those looked real dumb. Even though it made it easier to get crap from behind your seat, I will jepordize convience for looks in that case. Also I am totally digging that new Badge, I am defiantly putting one on my 08. Overtime my feeling on this truck might change, I remember when the 1997's came out I hated them at first because I was so into that early/mid 90's boxy style. After a few months once I saw a bunch on the road that body style grew on me and I eventully ended up buying one.

I am going to have to retract some of my Previous Statements. I was at The Home Depot today and the Local Ford Dealer parked some trucks in the parking lot for a Contractors Event. Among the trucks was an 09 FX4 SCrew. I must say in person the truck does look a lot nicer. I am still not completely sold on the Front End but it does look better in person. I do like the 3 stripes on the tailgate. Someone on here had told me that they looked better in person and they were right. As far as my likes, this is going to sound queer but I really like that they finally put a real screen on the satelitte radio that displays the Channel and Artist, not just the cheesy digital screens that the older models had. (The main reason I went to an after market satellitle unit) also I think the new badge is friggin awesome and I plan on getting them for my 08. The one thing I thought looked dumb as hell was the new FX4 logo. It looks like someone drew up a logo and then handed it to a 4 year old to scribble all over. I wish I had a chance to drive it, The guy from the Ford Dealership said other than it feeling a little tighter it drives very similar to the 04-08 Models.
