To me it is not all that bad, except there is too much grill.

Thats actually the first time I've seen that pic and IMO it looks horrible. I'm going to pretend I never saw it because if I dont, i just may change my mind on the new design.

On top of that, I'm not a big chrome fan. That grill looks like a$$ in that pic. I'd like to see a color option similar to that flat gunmetal that was on that Tundra Dually concept a few months back. Not sure if i'd like it in person, but I'd like to give it a chance.

I spent time writing this because I love my F150, horrid engine whine notwithstanding

Couple intersting things I've noticed since NAIAS.

All the negative posts about "hating the '09, while loving the '04-'08". Well, if it is truly terrible compared to the '04 style, than Ford must have done a great job in redesigning the entire truck. So lets hope the same people aren't complaing that they didn't change enough from '04 if they hate the '09 so much.

And on that topic, a lot of people were dissapointed that Ford didn't change it all that much. For those people, they should be really happy. They can get lots of new features yet have the same body style they know and love currently!Hope those people aren't saying "they didn't change much - and I hate it". Wha?

To me, they look very similiar from either side ('04/'09). The front looks much beefier, and the tailgate is certainly different from the past 2 redesigns where it was pretty much flat ('97/'04).

I was a little surprised by the sheer number of people who seem to dislike the new grille's, I thought they did a great job and thought it was cool they made so many different ones for the different trim levels - something for everyone. Look at all the posts the past 3 years of people swapping their '04 stock grille for one of those stupid billet grilles. I think those things are hideous, remind me of some fncy car, but like a lame attempt at it. Hate 'em. But the new grille's for '09 are big and chrome and shiny, figured billet lovers would love something like that, cept the look a hundred times better. Sorry, didn't mean to rant about my hatred of the billet grille look, just trying to say how surprised I was at the people complaining about all the new grille choices.

And about choices, who was it who was complaining about 'too many choices'? Huh - what?!? TOO MANY choices? This is exactly what people love, to buy and customize the vehicle of their dreams any way they see fit! How about the guy who said an XLT was plenty for him, and he'd mod aftermarket later as he had the money? Excellent! he's happy. How about me, who wants a loaded Platinum with every option possible? I'm too lazy to do aftermarket and I love stock look and fit & finish (sound levels - no squeeks/rattles). That's good for me! I'm sure there's guys out there who want an XL with a rubber carpet to hose out and let their dog run rampant on their vinyl seats. Sweet for him, he'll be happy! Or the guy who wants everything except Captain's Chairs, so his main squeeze can sit close by him as he drives? Ooohh, how sweet for him! See? Too many choices? I don't understand that logic AT ALL. Buy a short bed 4x2 XL with nothing and add your own stuff, have it your way. Too many choices...

If I had my choice I'd add more. Heated/cooled cupholders, choice of LED tails and HD headlights, etc...

BTW, I saw a car the other day with the fancy headlights, but since LED's are not ready for that application yet, the manufacturer had installed a row of White LED's below the headlamps as DRL's. THAT was sweet looking! In fact I saw an aftermarket mod similiar to it on a '97 F150 at my mall today. Very cool.

You don't know if Ford missed the boat on power yet because the official numbers have not been released.
Let me reword that last part for you. Engine HP numbers may be lower than the competition, but those numbers aren't low.
