Lightbulb Coming around!

The initial disappointment of not having any new engines is beginning to ware off, and I have taken a second look at the new truck. I have to admit that it does look pretty sharp. The option list on this truck is intense; no other manufacture comes remotely even close. Now, I’m not a big “options” guy, but I know there are a lot of you out there. The really impressive thing though is the list of standard features. Even the XLs will be reasonably respectable at this point. I previously owned a ’99 5.4 Flairside XLT Offroad that I had a real love for, and I have regretted it ever since I traded it in. I am working hard to have my Mustang paid off this year so that I can get a truck that hopefully will make me as happy as that one did by early next year. I’m starting to think that this one might just do that. Now, if only there would be some news about the new engines...

I think it will be a big hit, i also like the fact that its got standard side curtain airbags, the tailgate step, and the side bed step...

I want those features on my truck...

So just to clarify, are the front bumpers on the '09 painted with metal underneath that will look like crap when chipped, and rust from the backside outwards? Or are they made of some other material that won't rust out?

The '97-'03 bumpers had crazy rust starting from the backside and eventually eating through the front, both front and rear of vehicle. Haven't noticed any issues with my '04 chrome front or rear bumpers yet, but then again, I don't get underneath and crane my neck to look for rust inside where it seems to always start.

Just wondering what the painted '09 front bumpers are made of and if rust will still be an issue?

PS Let's hope they fixed the cowl squeeks and broken clips, and the rear window engine burnouts and squeeks and rattles. They appear unchanged from '08 to the new '09...

I'm not a terribly big fan of the taillights either. Maybe those will change by production time? They aren't a complete deal breaker; at least there are red lenses under the clear lens... I know that's a bit of a stretch. Hey, I am a big fan of the headlights on your sig though.
