I noticed there is a lot of bashing going on, with limited threads on the advancements that really improve this truck.
Ford's website pretty much covers it.

Just off the top of my head is:
Electronic Locking Diff.
AdvanceTrac w/Roll Stability Control
Power running boards
Box side step
6" Stretch cab on SCREW
Trailer brake controller
Tailgate step / stowable bed extender

wow I thought this was going to be a thread about the 09 f150 for a minute there. the stabilty control makes sense though as trucks are a high roll over risk vehicle. I know alot of the older guys think it is pointless along with abs and all the new electronic stuff but it is just making things safer for the average joe who only needs to get from point A to point B.
It's a good thing. The standard side air bags and stability control are a must to make it a top safety pick. Last year, the new Turdra had poor crash test ratings, but weasled their way onto the top safety list because it had these features. The new F-150 now has these features STANDARD, and can be considered for the top safety list along with its 5 star crash test ratings.

you should feel lucky ford thinks about people like you when they design new trucks (or did last gen).
sorry guys. this little boy has a big mouth. end rant
I'd really like to check out the Ford website but a dial up connection just won't cut it. It took about five minutes to get to 5% on the meter!
The new 2009 F-150 really looks like a nice rig. The pictures on this website just don't do it justice. I saw it on TV during the Detroit Auto Show and it was amazing. This thread is the first time I've heard about the electric locker. That's a nice feature they have needed for a long time. Limited slips just don't work like a locker.

Here's a link from another forum that has compiled a lot of improvements that Ford's site doesn't get into. A couple videos as well.
