The March 2008 Hot Rod shows the 6.2 Block.

They say it has 4.54 inch bore centers and has the capacity to go over 7.0. It says it will debut in the 2009 F-150 and be in the Mustang in 2010.

Later Mark.

Crap, how long has Dodge had the Hemi, half a decade, and now Ford says that we will get the Boss engine by the end of the decade. I guess for now we'll have to fight off the Hemies with our fancy tailgate handles.

I can't believe that Ford has'nt come out with a "displacement on demand" (8 cyl engine that runs on 4cyl's when demand is not needed) type system like GM and now Dodge will offer. Since they were'nt working fuel economy for 09 I would have thought they would have amp'ed up there H.P. ratings like Dodge and every other truck manufacturer have done. What has taken the Boss 6.2 so long to produce and release?

Yeah some people are complaining but I'm not.........MPG is not on the top of my list, HP is. I could care less if gas goes to $5.00 a gal I want to drive a truck with some HP. And like offroad99 said and I allready knew that a bigger engine will get as good mpg as a smaller engine because it's not in a strane all the time. I had a 79 f150 with a 460 and it got 12 mpg and the 05 I have now only gets 14-15 mpg so to only get 3 more mpg I would rather drive something with more power. But thats just me.......

I'd say if Ford wanted to make trucks go faster... they would've a long time ago...

Besides... who wants to go fast in a 1/2 ton pickup truck?! Be just as stupid as making a 40,000 lb motorhome go from 0-60 in 6 flat. For what purpose?!

The last time I did anything stupid was when I was 18 years old... I'm not 22, and still have some of the kid in me... I don't see the need to go fast nor have a truck that can out accelerate a Yaris.

The '97 460 was a poorly tuned "smog" motor. (retarded timing, low compression, etc...) The 460, like the Windsor engines, is gone forever because it just couldn't be brought into emissions compliance. However, the 460 is easily a more capable truck engine than ANY gasoline engine offered by any other manufacturer today, emissions not withstanding.

I dont understand what is the big deal honestly. I could have bought the 5.4 or a diesel for more power but decided not to and stayed with the 4.6 and it tows my boat and everything else with no problem at all, AND I have not had a single problem with my truck after 3 years.

If you are going to turn your truck into a street truck and race it constantly then be my guest and go buy another truck.

When i was looking for a truck I was looking for durability, and what would get the job done.

LOL at all the people liking their slow vehicle.

It's called passing power. If you have never had it, you dont miss it. I personally cant stand driving anything under 450hp.. It seems WAY WAY to slow for me.

My measley stock 5.4 does everything I need it to, and I'll likely never need to use it's full potential. If so, it will be seldom.

I could easily get away with the 4.6, but I prefer the power of the 5.4. It's all I need, and then some.

Eh, Throw in an Edge and its got enough power for me,

I dont drive an F-150 to street race

This coming from an under 25 year old
