Clean/oil window tracks

Replaced a faulty switch on my 06 today. Ford made that a piece of cake, done in a couple minutes.

The drivers side only comes up very slowly at the bottom then once halfway up it moves at regular speed.

At the dealer, while under warranty, the same symptom was fixed by "cleaning and lubing tracks" by the service tech. Seems to me that needs to be done again. Can I do with without taking the whole door apart?

I don't think so. When I replaced my failed front passenger window regulator I lubed the tracks on the new regulator, there's a couple of plastic sliders ride on the tracks of the regulator with white lithium grease. The only way I could get to it was with the whole regulator outside the truck. I got the whole thing riding smoothly by adjusting it as I installed the regulator. Works great now. Now I get to do the driver's side soon since the regulator failed a couple of weeks ago. It never ends.

the last ford tech that worked on your truck was lazy...or didnt know how to check for TSBs...your window needs to be adjusted.

1.remove the inside door panel
2.loosen(do not remove)the 2 torx T30 bolts that hold the glass to the regulator
3.roll the window all the way up
4. pull the glass to the back side of the door(rear track)and have a friend tighten the bolts while you hold the glass against the rear track.
5. enjoy your fixed window

TSB 07-2-6

I personally perform this TSB on many F150s and it works like a charm.

Paralyzer, thanks for the write up! I just tried this on my '06 F150 and it worked perfectly.

Here were the symptoms of my power window problem: Window would roll down fine with a slight catching or grabbing sound (could tell it was out of alignment). It would begin to roll up normally, stall out, then I would have to help it up with my hand. I applied Paralyzer's fix above and the window rolls up/down smoothly.

For clarification I am posting some pictures of the T30 bolts that you need to loosen. Also, KevinCowtown made a great write-up on how to take off the door panels here.

After removing the door panels you will have to pull down the water seal to access the inside of the door. At this point, I reconnected the power window switches and rolled my window down half-way to get access to the T30 bolts (after rolling down the window I unplugged the switch and turned off my vehicle).

After removing the door panel and lowering the window you will be able to see the left (red circle) and right (red arrow) T30 bolts.

A close up of the left T30 (red circle):

As Paralyzer mentioned, loosen the T30's then have a buddy pull the window back (towards the left if you are looking at the inside of the door). After you have it pulled all the way back, tighten the T30's and you are done.
