HELP, disconnected line from unknow location

I noticed a rubber line that has come disconnected today on my 2005 FX4. If you look at the rear axle, left of the rear differential there are 2 lines coming off the rear axle. The line that is pointing almost directly toward the rear bumber (the bigger of the two lines) is disconnected at one end and connected at the rear axle. I do not know if this is some sort of drain and has no place to be connected or if it does in fact have a connection. I have experienced no problems with my truck. Please let me know where it should be connected. Thank you in advance.

RELAX.... Its sounds like you are refering to the third member (rearend) vent tube. It attaches to the axle on one side of the third member and the other end is open to allow for venting...Only time you should worry about it is if it gets plugged up when your off road four wheeling. This can cause the axle seals to leak if the unit can not breath..

Yeah that's the axle vent tube. If you look up righht above where that hose goes into the axle there should be some sort of clip vent thing on the underside of the pickup bed. The piece probably broke and that's why it's hanging.

It's not connected to anything, it just gets clipped to the frame.
