2004 Ford with V6

Does anyone know if they are going to make any of the 2004's with V6 engines or are they going to do away with them. From what I have read hear in this forum is that it will have the 5.4. I don't want one yet (just brought a new truck). I was just curious. If they are going with a V6, would it still be the same size.

I am sure they are keeping the V-6, whether or not they are making it a 18v I am not sure of. I doubt it though. Also...don't expect to see the 4.2L engines in the F150 for very much longer. The 4.6 is staying though.

the 4.2 is staying.

the truck still needs a base level engine.

Ford has already announced that the 4.2 will be powering the new Windstar derived Merucury Minivan. This tells us that Ford is making a committment to keeping this engine in the corporate pool.

And I have read that the 4.2, 4.6 and 6.8 will also be going to 3valve design over the next couple of years.

The 5.4 was the first as this is the flagship engine for the F150 and lightning and needs to have more power to compete with the Hemi and Chevy 6.0.

I would expect that the 6.8 would be next just to keep up in the HP race with Dodge and Chev.

Of course, the 4.6 could also be next to keep up with Toyota and the new Nissan pickup.

Either way, I expect the 4.2 to be the very last to upgrade to 3 valve.

I'm sure FORD will still have the V6 for those that can't afford the extra for a V8 or don't need the V8.

V6 Diesel... not the regular V6...

Of course they'll still have the regular V6 option...

Ford has said they will keep the 4.2 V6 and I beleive it has been said it will be 215HP, I don't remember the torque. As for the 4.2 going to 18 valve is not in the picture. I have herd of 3 valve per cylinder OHV engines but I have yet to see any engines like that. So without the 4.2 being an OHC engine it more than likely won't happen.
